STEELE, ALBANO AND HORA EARN RUNNER OF THE WEEK HONORS

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Bill Steele of Wilmington University, Rob Albano of Felician College and Whitney Hora of Wilmington have earned Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Runner of the Week honors for Monday, Sept. 19. Luis Romero of Bloomfield College and Althea Davidson of Wilmington picked up Rookie of the Week accolades.

Steele and Albano were named co-Runners of the Week for the men. Steele, a junior from Conowingo, Md., won his third invitational in as many weeks, taking the Division II/DIII race at the Delware Invitational on Saturday. His winning time was 26:16.

Albano, a junior from Pompton Plains, N.J., placed second in 26:30 at the Monmouth Invitational against numerous Division I schools.

Hora, a sophomore from Kingsville, Md., placed second at the Delaware Invitational, clocking a time of 24:10. She helped lead her team to a third place finish.

Romero, a freshman from Union City, N.J., crossed in second place, behind Steele, at the Delaware Invitational, with a time of 27:04. Romero was also the Rookie of the Week last week.

Davidson, a freshman from New Castle, Del., placed fifth at the Delaware Invitational, crossing in a 4K time of 25:00.

Honorable Mention
Elizabeth Williams, Goldey-Beacom (Jr., Wilmington, DE) - Placed first at the Dukes Invitational at Cumberland CC, crossing in 22:01.

Stewart Reich, Goldey-Beacom (So., Frederick, MD) - Won the Dukes Invitational in a 5K time of 17:21.

CACC Cross Country Notes

Bloomfield - Freshman Luis Romero (Union City, NJ) continued to stake his claim as the top rookie runner in the CACC on Saturday, running to an 11th place finish overall and a second-place finish in the Division II/Division III division of the Delaware Invitational at White Clay Creek.  Romero finished just nine seconds off the pace of Wilmington's Bill Steele with a time of 27:04.73, and was the top rookie finisher for the second consecutive week.  Junior Stephen Bowman (Attco, NJ) continued his strong junior campaign by placing 31st with a time of 30:08.93, while Moses Rotich (Lodi, NJ) placed 37th with a time of 30:49.46. On the Women's side, the Lady Deacons ran to a sixth-place finish in the event, with freshman Catelin Perez (Union City, NJ) placing 36th with a time of 28:07.14.  Bertina Beaubrun (Asbury Park, NJ) was the other Bloomfield runner to place in the top 50, placing 49th with a time of 30:04.80.
 
Concordia - Concordia placed two runners in the top 10 in the Manhattanville Invitational men's race. The Clipper women placed one runner, Shelley Monahan, in the top 10 at Manhattanville.  Their next meet will take place on Sunday, September 25 at the Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, N.Y. to participate in the Hunter College Cross Country Meet.

Felician - The Felician men, ranked ninth regionally, competed in a field with 10 members of the Division I Northeast Conference at the Monmouth Invitational on Saturday and placed ninth, defeating D-I schools Bryant, Robert Morris, and Fairleigh Dickinson. Rob Albano was second overall in a field 143.
