ROB ALBANO AND SARAH SIMONETTI CAPTURE RUNNER OF THE WEEK ACCOLADES

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Felician College's Rob Albano and Philadelphia University's Sarah Simonetti have captured Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's and Women's Runner of the Week honors for Monday, Oct. 24. Tim Malloy and Taylor Falvey of Philadelphia were tabbed Men's and Women's Rookie of the Week.

Albano, a junior from Pompton Plains, N.J., won the individual title at the CACC Championship Sunday to lead the Golden Falcons to their second straight crown. He crossed the line in 26:35 on the 5-mile course.

Simonetti, a senior from Perkasie, Pa., was the women's champion at the conference championship. She led the Rams to their fourth consecutive team title with a time of 18:43 on the 5K course at Belmont Plateau.

Malloy, a freshman from Haddonfield, N.J., was named the CACC Rookie of the Year after finishing fifth at the CACC Championship. He led the team to a second place finish by completing the course in 27:33.

Falvey, a freshman from York, Pa., was the first rookie finisher at the CACC Championship, crossing the line in 19:52, which as good for a third place effort.

Honorable Mention
Bill Steele, Wilmington (Jr., Conowingo, MD) - Finished second at the CACC Championship, crossing in 26:45.

Taylor Trumbetti, Felician (Jr., Montvale, NJ) - Helped lead Felician to the championship by placing third in 26:58.

Whitney Hora, Wilmington (So., Kingsville, MD) - Was the runner-up at the CACC Championship, recording a 5K time of 19:45.

Gabrielle Dei Tos, Philadelphia (Sr., Freeland, PA) - Placed fourth at the CACC Championship to help lead the Lady Rams to the team title. Recorded a 5K time of 19:59.

CACC Cross Country Notes

Bloomfield - Freshman Luis Romero (Union City, N.J.) was named to the All-CACC Men's Cross Country Team after running to a seventh-place finish Sunday afternoon, as Bloomfield's men's cross country team placed fourth overall at the 2011 CACC Championship.  Fellow freshman Catelin Perez (Union City, N.J.) finished 38th in the women's event, leading the women's team to a ninth-place finish overall.  Romero crossed the finish line in 27:54.58, placing in the top 10 in each of Bloomfield's races in his brilliant rookie campaign. Junior Steven Bowman (Attco, N.J.) finished next for the Deacons in 25th place with a time of 30:15.90, and senior Elson Smajlaj (North Bergen, N.J.) concluded his Bloomfield career by placing 31st in the five-mile event with a time of 30:35.40. Moses Rotich (Lodi, N.J.) followed Smajlaj in 35th place with a time of 30:50.34, and Devang Patel (North Bergen, N.J.) rounded out the Bloomfield effort by placing 41st with a time of 31:18.79.  Perez crossed the finish line in 22:52.96, making her the top Bloomfield finisher in the women's three-mile event.  Senior Vanessa Lamison (Laurel, Md.) followed in 46th place with a time of 23:53.71, while Bertina Beaubrun (Asbury Park, N.J.) placed 53rd with a time of 24:43.81.  Senior Mercy Puma (Guttenberg, N.J.) concluded her Bloomfield career by placing 57th with a time of 25:04.95, with Dre'Shonda Williams (Piscataway, N.J.) following close behind in 59th with a time of 25:11.98.  Kathleen Saunders (Piscataway, N.J.) rounded out the women's effort, placing 71st with a time of 28:15.81.

Felician - Felician won the CACC team championship for the ninth time in the 12-year history of the program, and successfully defended its 2010 title. All six Golden Falcon runners that finished the race made the all-conference team, including senior James Vander Wiele for the fourth time. Vander Wiele is the third four-time all-CACC performer in team history, joining Alex Wright and Jay Rodgers. Junior Rob Albano is Felician's fifth CACC Runner of the Year, and was one second short of the meet record set by teammate Paul Chegwidden in 2007. John Brennan is the CACC Men's Coach of the Year for the sixth time. The Felician women repeated its 2010 finish of eighth in the CACC Championship. However, it is believed to be the first time in program history that the Golden Falcons did not produce an all-conference runner.

Philadelphia - The Philadelphia women took first place and their fourth consecutive title at the 2011 CACC Championship in record breaking fashion. Sarah Simonetti claimed her second straight CACC individual title. She was joined in the top 5 by freshman Taylor Falvey who was awarded rookie runner of the year (3rd). Other notable finishes included Gabrielle Dei Tos (4th) Chelsea Attaway (9th) and Christina Wetzel (11th). All runners in the top 15 were named to the All CACC team. The Philadelphia men's team was able to capture second place at the 2011CACC Championship. Freshman runner and CACC Rookie of the Year Tim Malloy led all PhilaU runners with a fourth place overall finish. In addition teammates Tyler Dye (10th) and rookie Kip Kirui (11th) and Eric Lacy (15th) were able to finish in the top twenty and all four runners were named to the 2011 All-CACC Team.
