STEELE AND HORA SELECTED CACC RUNNERS OF THE WEEK

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Bill Steele and Whitney Hora of Wilmington University have been selected the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Male and Female Runners of the Week for the period ending Sunday, Sept. 19. Stewart Reich of Goldey-Beacom College was tabbed Male Rookie of the Week. Hora also collected the female Rookie of the Week award.

Steele, a sophomore from Conowingo, Md., placed third at the Delaware Invitational, crossing with an 8k time of 26:42.77. He led the Wildcats to a fifth place finish as a team. Steele was also named the Runner of the Week last week.

Hora, a freshman from Kingsville, Md., placed second at the Delaware Invitational Division II race with a 5k time of 20:05.45. She led the Wildcats to a third place finish.

Reich, a freshman from Frederick, Md., was the individual champion at the Queensborough CC Invitational, clocking a time of 29:33 to lead the Lightning to the team championship.

Honorable Mention

Danielle Riley, Wilmington (Jr., Hartly, DE) - Finished in third place at the Delaware Invite in 20:38. 

Fred Tuwei, Holy Family (Sr., Nairobi, Kenya) - Finished in fourth place at the Delaware Invitational in an 8k time of 27:56. 

CACC Cross Country Notes

Georgian Court - After a week off, Georgian Court University returns to action this Saturday at the Philly Metro Invitational at Philadelphia’s Belmont Plateau.

Goldey-Beacom - This was the second straight week the Lightning men have taken first in a cross country meet. Junior Ben Kinley bettered his personal best on the course from last season by 23 seconds.

Philadelphia - The Rams cross country teams were not scheduled to compete last week. The teams captured first place at the Wilmington Invitational on September 11. The Rams will look for their second-straight wins at the Philadelphia Metro Championships on Saturday (9/25).
