ALBANO AND FETTERS CLAIM CROSS COUNTRY WEEKLY AWARDS

NEW HAVEN, CT - Rob Albano of Felician College and Sharon Fetters of Nyack College have claimed Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Male and Female Runner of the Week honors for the week ending Sunday, Oct. 18. Albano was also named the Rookie of the Week, while the female recipient was Julia Miller of Dominican College.

Albano, a freshman from Pompton Plains, NJ, finished in third place at the CTC Championships, running an 8K time of 26:30 to lead the Golden Falcons to a fourth-place finish. Albano has earned Runner of the Week accolades four times in 2009.

Fetters, a senior from Levittown, PA, won the Gold Race at the University at Albany Invitational, clocking a 5K time of 19:16 in a field of Division I, II and III competitors.

Miller, a freshman from Mount Vernon, NY, was the individual champion at the St. John's Cross Country Fall Invitational, crossing the line in a 4K time of 17:04.43.

CACC Notes 

Felician - Felician's 5-man spread of 1:10 was its lowest of the season.

Georgian Court - GCU now sets its sights to next week's CACC Championship as the team seeks its third title over the last four years. Coach Kerwin Lanz sat out his freshman phenoms, Cynthia Cuiule, Allison Landry and six-time CACC Rookie of the Week, Justine Berger, to rest them for next week's big event, which will take place at Philadelphia's Belmont Plateau.

Philadelphia - The Philadelphia men's and women's teams had a week off in preparation for the CACC Championships at Belmont Plateau (10/24).
