THREE WILDCATS NAMED TO USTFCCCA ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM; WOMEN EARN TEAM HONOR

NEW CASTLE, DE -- Wilmington University is pleased to announce that three Wildcats have been named to the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team for the 2009 season.

Seniors Danielle Burcham (C. Milton Wright HS/Bel Air, MD) and Chad Darlington (St. Mark’s HS/Wilmington, DE), along with sophomore Danielle Riley (Lake Forest HS/Hartly, DE) received the All-Academic accolades

To qualify for this honor an individual must have a cumulative grade point average through the semester of competition of a 3.25 on a 4.0 scale. An athlete must have competed in at least 50% of their teams’ cross country competitions, and finish in the top 30 % in the NCAA regional meet. The individual’s coach must also be a member of the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

The Lady Wildcats as a squad were named an All-Academic Team, To qualify for this honor a team must have a cumulative team grade point average through the semester of competition of a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Athletes must have competed in at least 50% of their teams' cross country competitions and the team must have competed at their respective NCAA regional.  It marks the second consecutive year the 'Cats have earned this distinguished honor, and the squad’s grade point average was 3.48, highest among all teams in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference.
