TUWEI AND BURCHAM GARNER RUNNER OF THE WEEK AWARDS

NEW HAVEN, CT - Fred Tuwei of Holy Family University and
Danielle Burcham of Wilmington
University have been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate
Conference (CACC) Male and Female Runners of the Week for the week
ending Sunday, Oct. 11. Bill Steele of Wilmington and Justine
Berger of Georgian Court University were tabbed Male and Female
Rookie of the Week.
Tuwei, a junior from Nairobi, Kenya, won the individual title at the Cabrini College Invitational, crossing the finish line in an 8k school-record time of 26:15.87.
Burcham, a senior from Bel Air, MD, placed fourth overall at the Cabrini Invitational, among 98 runners, in a 5k time of 19:44.66. She led the Wildcats to a fifth-place showing.
Steele, a freshman from Conowingo, MD, placed fifth at the Cabrini Invitational, crossing the finish line in 26:46. He helped lead the Wildcats to the team championship.
Berger, a freshman from Middletown, NJ, was the second finisher from a CACC school at the Cabrini Invitational, placing fifth in 19:57.24. Berger has been named CACC Rookie of the Week every week thus far in 2009.

Matt O'Brian, Wilmington (Sr., Bear, DE) - Placed 4th in 26:43 at the Cabrini Invitational.
Rob Albano, Felician (Fr., Pompton Plains, NJ) - Finished third in 27:32 at the Monmouth Invitational.
Sarah Simonetti, Philadelphia (So., Perkasie, PA) - Finished in sixth place at the Cabrini Invitational.
Cynthia Cuiule, Georgian Court (Fr., Mt. Laurel, NJ) - Placed 15th in 21:05 at the Cabrini Invitational.
CACC Notes
Philadelphia - The Philadelphia men faired well by taking third place in the Cabrini Invitational. Senior Shawn D'Andrea (Blackwood, NJ/Paul VI) came in seventh at the event while fellow senior Andrew Piotrowski (Warminster, PA/William Tennant) placed 13th. Also gaining valuable points for the team was sophomore Tyler Dye (Hanover, PA/Delone Catholic) who came in 14th place, senior Kirk Tencate (Wayne, NJ/ Wayne Valley) finishing 18th and Kip Kirui (Rift Valley, Kenya/Kilgoris) finishing in 26th. The Rams will enjoy their week of and will start preparing for the CACC Championships held at Belmont Plateau (10/24). The Philadelphia women had a strong performance by taking third overall at the Cabrini Invitational with sophomore Sarah Simonetti (Perkasie, PA/Pennridge) taking sixth place overall and fellow sophomore Gabrielle Dei Tos (Freeland, PA/MMI Prep) finishing in 17th. Other top performers were junior Kaitlin O'Leary (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) in 23rd, senior Faith Anderson (Dover, PA/Dover Area) finishing 25th, and freshman Meghan McAdorey (Bel Air, MD/John Carroll) placing in 34th. The Lady's will take a week off in preparation for the CACC Championships at Belmont Plateau (10/24).
USP - For the second time this season, the USP men's cross country team had all seven scorers finish in less than 30 minutes. Five men's runners recorded personal best times at Saturday's Cabrini Invitational, led by freshman Michael Pecorino's (Staten Island, NY) 28:10.01. Sophomore Georgiy Polyak (Dingman's Ferry, Pa.) took 11 seconds off his previous best with a time of 29:09.49. Freshman Christian Radzinski had the biggest gain, shaving 1:22 off his previous best and finishing amongst the Devils top seven with a time of 29:56.89. Freshmen Rob Glass (Blackwood, N.J.) and Brendan Degnan (Doylestown, Pa.) also had their best race of their young careers. On the women's side, USP finished sixth at Saturday's Cabrini Invitational, three places better than their 2008 finish. The Devils are still racing without one of their top three runners, sophomore Kim Brown (Toms River, N.J.) who is nursing a leg injury. The Devils were fourth amongst the seven CACC schools competing in the meet. Freshman Vienna Laielli (Linwood, N.J.) recorded a personal best time of 23:01 in Saturday's meet
Wilmington - The Wildcat men's team continued their outstanding
season, finishing first at an invitational for the fourth time this
season. For the women, senior Danielle Burcham has now finished
first for the Wildcats in every race this season after finishing
fourth at the Cabrini Invitational.
