ALBANO AND BURCHAM GARNER RUNNER OF THE WEEK AWARDS

NEW HAVEN, CT - Rob Albano of Felician College and Danielle
Burcham of Wilmington
University have garnered Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference
(CACC) Runner of the Week accolades for the week ending Monday,
Sept. 7. Albano was also named the male Rookie of the Week, while
the female Rookie of the Week was Justine Berger of Georgian Court
University.
Albano, a freshman from Pompton Plains, NJ, made an outstanding collegiate debut at the Delaware Valley Invitational on Saturday. He finished in second place in a 8k time of 27:32 to lead the Golden Falcons to the team championship in a 17-team field.
Burcham, a senior from Bel Air, MD, placed 17th at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Lid-Lifter meet, finishing the 5k course in 19:55. She led the Wildcats to a fourth-place finish as a team.
Berger, a freshman from Middletown, NJ, led Georgian Court at the Monmouth Kickoff Invitational by placing 21st in a time of 16:17.15 on the 4k course.
Honorable Mention
Bill Steele, Wilmington (Fr., Conowingo, MD) - Placed 18th at the UMES Lid-Lifter in a time of 27:10.
Shawn D'Andrea, Philadelphia (Jr., Blackwood, NJ) - Won the Haverford Time Trials, finishing the 3-miler in 15:19.
Sharron Fetters, Nyack (Jr., Levittown, PA) - Started the season with a pair of top-5 finishes at STAC and St. Rose.
Sarah Simmonetti, Philadelphia (So., Perkasie, PA) - Won the Haverford Time Trials, crossing the 3-mile race in 18:42.
CACC Notes
Bloomfield - Sophomore Mercy Puma wsa the top finisher for the Lady Deacons in each of the first two events of the season.
Felician - The Felician men, five-time defending CACC champions and ranked seventh regionally, have now won a regular-season race for the third consecutive year with their victory at the Delaware Valley Invitational on Saturday. Freshman Rob Albano was the Golden Falcons' frontrunner, finishing second overall and crossing the line ahead of teammate and 2008 CACC Runner of the Year James Vander Wiele by four seconds.
Nyack - In her first two weeks of the season, Sharon Fetters has notched two top 5 finishes, finishing 2nd last week at a Tri-Meet with Bloomfield and STAC. This past weekend Fetters recorded a fifth place finish at the Golden Knights Joust at the College of Saint Rose.
Philadelphia - Shawn D'Andrea and Sarah Simonetti took first-place overall in the non-scoring Haverford Time Trials (9/1/09). The Ram squads will kick off their first scoring meet of the year at the Wilmington Invitational (9/12) this Saturday, the women start at 10 a.m., while the men's race starts at 11 a.m.
USP - The USP men had four runners finish the 8,000 meter course in less than 30 minutes and had their top seven runners finish in less than 32 minutes en route to a seventh place finish... The race marks the first time this decade that the Devils have had their top seven men's runners finish in less than 32 minutes in their season opener.... The Devils were amongst four CACC schools competing at the race on Saturday... The men's team was second amongst the four teams, losing to only Felician College (the overall meet winner).... USP's men's top runner, Peter Grant was the 6th CACC runner to cross the finish line finishing in 16th place... Five men made their collegiate debuts for the Devils on Saturday, led by Michael Pecorino (Staten Island, NY) {29:40.67} and Francisco Garcia (Buenos Aires, Argentina) {29:56.99}. On the women's side, Saturday's race marked the first time that the USP women had their first five runners finish in less than 28:30 in a regular-season 6,000-meter race...The Devils were amongst four CACC schools competing at the race on Saturday. The women's team defeated all three CACC rivals competing in the race....The Devils top women's finisher, Kristin Waters (Syracuse, N.Y.) was the fifth CACC runner to cross the line, finishing in 39th place. Three USP women made their collegiate debut on Saturday, led by Waters.
