PHILADELPHIA'S SIMONETTI FINISHES 54TH AT CROSS COUNTRY NATIONALS

EVANSVILLE, IN (Nov. 24, 2009) - Philadelphia University sophomore runner Sarah Simonetti (Perkasie, PA/ Pennridge) finished in 54th place at the NCAA DII Cross Country National Championships on Saturday, Nov. 21, running a 22:18 6K at Southern Indiana University.

Simonetti finished 13th among sophomores in the Championships and 54th of 184 total runners.

Adams State took the team title, followed by Grand Valley State and Missouri Southern. 

Simonetti's time of 22:18 was a career-best, shattering her NCAA Regional time of 22:52 from two weeks prior.  Simonetti became the first runner from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference, male or female, to earn a spot at the NCAA Division II Cross Country Championship after placing fifth at the NCAA East Regional on Nov. 8. She earned her second All-Region honor as a result of her performance at the regional.
