LAKEWOOD, NJ - Georgian Court University Head Track and Field Coach, Brett Harvey, and Head Cross Country Coach, Kerwin Lanz, are proud to announce the Lions' recruiting class of 2009-10. GCU will have 24 student-athletes joining the squad(s) this year, headlined by Lacey Township High School standouts, Lauren Calorel and Justine Elardo, Middletown North's Justine Berger, and Monmouth University transfer and former Howell Township High School standout, Lauren Rome.

Calorel, the 2008 NJSIAA Meet of Champions winner in the high jump, joins the Lions with a personal best of 5'6" in that event. Elardo captured Ocean County titles in both the 100m and 400m hurdles before finishing as the Shore Conference, NJSIAA Sectional and NJSIAA Group 3 runner-up in the long hurdles. Berger is coming off of a season that saw her record an 11:38 3200m, finishing fourth at the Monmouth County Indoor Track and Field Championships, as well as a fine 18^th place showing in the Monmouth County Cross Country Championships. As a scholastic runner at Howell High School, Rome recorded some of the fastest times in the region in 2008 in both the 1600 (5:11) and 3200 (11:21).

The class also features Middle and Long Distance prospects Erin Frye (Point Boro), Cynthia Cuiule (Lenape), Allison Landry (Ellington, CT) and Samantha Sinclair (Maple Shade).

Calorel will be joined by fellow jumpers Mary Sancilio (Allentown), Skye Thompson (Dunellen), Alyssa Hudgins (Highland Park) and Sammi Napoli (Howell), while Elardo will be joined by fellow sprint/hurdlers Melissa Parato (Howell), Chalisse Burrell (Voorhees) and Liane Librizzi (Manasquan).

Field events will be headed by Christine Gorczyca (Toms River South), Sancilio and Hudgins.
