USP'S WILLEY AND GCU'S REILLY NAMED CACC RUNNERS OF THE WEEK

NEW HAVEN, CT - Nick Willey of the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia and Julienne Reilly of Georgian Court University have been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Runners of the Week for the week ending Sunday, August 31. Owen Ward of Chestnut Hill College was the male Rookie of the Week, while female Rookie of the Week accolades went to Sarah Simonetti of Philadelphia University.

Willey, a senior from Clifton Park, NY, placed ninth at the 18-team Delaware Valley Invitational on Saturday with a time of 28:24.77. He was the top CACC finisher at the event. The Devils placed third as a team.

Reilly, a senior from Wall, NJ, placed 14th at the Delaware Valley Invitational with a time of 25:51.74. She led Georgian Court to a fourth-place finish at the event.

Ward, a freshman from Croydon, PA, placed 17th at the Delaware Valley Invitational with a time of 29:24.26 in his first collegiate action. He was the top finisher for the Griffins.

Simonetti, a freshman who hails from Perkasie, PA, took third overall at the Haverford College Time Trials, crossing in third place in 18:35. The time set a school record at the meet.

CACC Notes

Philadelphia - In her Lady Ram debut, freshman Sarah Simonetti took third overall (18:35) at the three-mile Haverford Time Trials, setting a new school record for that meet. The Lady Rams take the week off before heading to the Wilmington University Invitational (9/13).

Shawn D'Andrea won the Haverford Time Trials for the second year in a row, knocking 30 seconds off his winning time from last year. The Rams will take the week off before heading to the Wilmington University Invitational (9/13).

USP - USP's third place finish in the men's race was its second consecutive top-three placing at the DVC Invitational. In regular season meets, the Devils have now finished no lower than 4th place in seven straight events, dating back to the start of last season. USP reduced their 1-5 gap time from last year's race by 54 seconds from 2:48 in 2007 to 1:54 this year.
