D'ANDREA, SIMONETTI AND BURCHAM GARNER CROSS COUNTRY WEEKLY AWARDS

NEW HAVEN, CT - Shawn D'Andrea of Philadelphia University has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Male Runner of the Week for the Week ending Sunday, Nov. 9. Sarah Simonetti of Philadelphia and Danielle Burcham of Wilmington University were tabbed co-Famale Runners of the Week.  James Vander Wiele of Felician College was the pick for Male Rookie of the Week.

D'Andrea, a junior from Blackwood, NJ, was the first CACC runner to finish at the NCAA Division II East Regional, crossing the finish line in 17th place in a 10k time of 32:25.20.

Simonetti, a freshman from Perkasie, PA, and Burcham, a junior from Bel Aire, MD, became the first two CACC runners to ever earn All-Region honors at Sunday's East Regional in Boston. They finished 13th and 14th, respectively, and were seperated by less than a second. Simonetti ran a time of 23:43.60 and Burcham was right behind her with a 23:43.90 performance.

Vander Wiele, a freshman from Pequannock, NJ, was the first CACC rookie to cross the finish line at the East Regional, clocking a time of 32:47.80, which was good for 22nd place.

CACC Notes

Georgian Court - Georgian Court's eighth-place finish at the 2008 East Regional was the best season-ending ranking for the GCU program in its Division II history.

Felician - The Felician men registered their highest finish in an NCAA Regional meet. CACC Runner of the Year James Vander Wiele was the team's No. 1 man in all six meets this season, by a margin of at least 35 seconds over his closest teammate.

Wilmington - Rodney Rosario's 10k time of 33.42 was the fastest in school history. His 34th place finish put him in the top 20% of all regional runners, and placed him as the 3rd overall runner from the CACC. Danielle Burcham's 14th place finish earned her the first-ever NCAA All-Region recognition in the history of the Wilmington University Cross Country Program.
