CHEGWIDDEN AND MIARA CLAIM CROSS COUNTRY WEEKLY AWARDS

NEW HAVEN, CT - Paul Chegwidden of Felician College and Heather Miara of Georgian Court University have claimed Male and Female Runner of the Week accolades in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) for the week ending Sunday, Sept. 23. Felician's Brenden Krewer and Wilmington University's Rory Kauffman were the Male and Female Rookie of the Week recipients.
Chegwidden, a senior from Hamburg, NJ, led Felician to a first place finish at the Philadelphia Metro Championships by winning the race with an 8k time of 27:03. He won the race by 29 seconds in his first action this fall.
Miara, a freshman from Sayreville, NJ, was the top overall female finisher at the Philadelphia Metro Championship with a 19:37.73 5k clocking. She led Georgian Court to the team championship.
Krewer, a freshman from Farmingdale, NJ, was the first CACC male rookie finisher at the Philadelphia Metro Championship, placing 10th in 28:32.
Kauffman, a freshman from Wilmington, DE, ran a course-record time of 20:07 at the Wilmington Invitational, placing first and leading the Wildcats to a first place showing. Kauffman has earned CACC Rookie of the Week honors three times this season, and Runner of the Week twice.
Honorable Mention
Brad Schepise, Felician (So., Milltown, NJ) - Finished fifth at the Philadelphia Metros with a time of 28:04.14.
Joy Aifuwa, USP (Sr., Edison, NJ) - Placed second at the Philadelphia Metros with a time of 19:42.34.
Sharron Fetters, Nyack (Fr., Levittown, PA) - Won the PSU-Berks Invitational with a 5K time of 21:20.
CACC Notes
Chestnut Hill - Will Shoemaker's time at the Philadelphia Metro Championship (28:35.88) is a new school record for men's 8k. Record was set last year by Ramzy Shreim at Cabrini College Invitational (29:41). The squad's next meet is the Paul Short Invitational (Lehigh University) at 2:00 pm on Friday, September 28. For the women, Brittany Murtha's time at the Philadelphia Metro Championship (23:09.52) is a new school record in the women's 5K. The old record was set by Colleen Harner last year at the Cabrini College Invitational (23:55).
Felician - Paul Chegwidden won the Philadelphia Metro Invitational by 29 seconds despite not competing the previous two weekends due to academic obligations. Felician won the team title with two-time All-CACC performer Mike Burghoffer not even scoring (sixth man). The Golden Falcons placed nine runners in the top 25. For the women, junior Amanda Scibetta's 20:26 at the Philly Metro meet on Saturday was a collegiate low for 5K. She has been the team frontrunner in all three races this season, finishing just 0.39 seconds ahead of teammate Toni Fowler on Saturday.
Philadelphia - Saturday at Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia, competing in the Philadelphia Metro Championship, hosted by Cabrini College, the Philadelphia University men finished in 2nd place out of 19 teams entered, while the women tied for 5th place (of 18). On the day, the Rams went 5-1 against CACC competition, and the Lady Rams were 3-2 against their conference foes. Sophomores Andrew Piotrowski (9th place) and Shawn D'Andrea (11th place) paced the Rams, who placed seven of their twelve runners inside the top 50 of the 161 total entrants. For the Lady Rams, true freshman Cassie Cohick led the way with a 10th place performance, followed by sophomore teammate Faith Anderson in 11th position.
USP - The USP men recorded its best finish in the last 10 seasons at the Philadelphia Metro meet, finishing 4th. So far this season the Devils have recorded two fourth-place finishes as well as a second and a first. The Devils best finish in a regular season meet last season was 6th.
