WILLEY AND MIARA GARNER CACC CROSS COUNTRY HONORS

NEW HAVEN, CT - Nick Willey of USP and Heather Miara of Georgian Court University have garnered Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Runner of the Week honors for the week ending Sunday, Oct. 14. Jay Rodgers of Felician College and Rory Kauffman of Wilmington University were the choices for Rookie of the Week.

Willey, a junior from Clifton Park, NY, placed sixth at the Cabrini Invitational at Belmont Plateau with an 8k time of 27:47.91. He led USP to a third place finish.

Miara, a freshman from Sayreville, NJ, was the individual champion at the Cabrini Invitational with a 5k time of 19:26.34. She led Georgian Court to a second place finish. Miara has claimed CACC Runner of the Week honors twice this season, and Runner of the Week accolades two times.

Rodgers, a freshman from Westmont, NJ, finished in seventh place at the Cabrini Invitational and was the second CACC finisher in the event. He ran a time of 27:49.61. Rodgers has picked up Rookie of the Week honors four times this season.

Kauffman, a freshman from Wilmington, DE, placed third at the Cabrini Invitational, crossing the line in 19:35.68. She led Wilmington to a fourth-place finish. Kauffman has been named Rookie of the Week five times this season, and was named Runner of the Week twice.

Honorable Mention

Shaun D'Andrea, Philadelphia (So., Blackwood, NJ) - Finished 27th at the Delaware Invitational against mainly Division-I teams. Ran a time of 27:53.00.

Joy Aifuwa, USP (Sr., Edison, NJ) - Placed sixth at the Cabrini Invitational with a time of 19:38.81.

CACC Notes

Felician - MEN: Felician's top five runners at the Cabrini Invitational on Saturday all registered season-low 8K times. Four of the five were freshmen. The Golden Falcons were first out of six CACC schools in attendance despite holding back four of their usual top five. WOMEN: Felician's top five runners at the Cabrini Invitational ran season low 5,000-meter times. The meet was at the CACC Championship course, Belmont Plateau. The Golden Falcons finished first out of seven league schools in attendance, edging defending CACC champion Georgian Court by one point. Junior Amanda Scibetta broke 20 minutes for 5K for the first time in her career.

USP - MEN: The Devils had their top five runners finish in under 30 minutes as they closed out the regular season with a third place finish at the Cabrini Invitational. USP finished no lower than fourth place in all six races this season (1-1st, 1-2nd, 2-3rd, 2-4th). Four USP runners ran their personal best 8K times in Saturday's race (Marty Farrell (29:02); Steve Maylie (29:26); Nick Barkley (31:53) and Rich DiGiacomo (33:45). WOMEN: Joy Aifuwa's time of 19:38.81 is her fastest time of the season. Three of the Devils six runners set personal bests during Saturday's race (Hayley Lentz- 21:23; Colleen Christian -22:39; and Allison Dargay- 24:46.89.
