2006 CACC Cross Country Weekly Award Winners September 5 Male Runner of the Week: Walter Tum, Bloomfield (Jr., Eldoret, Kenya) - Tum finished second at the Delaware Valley Invitational with a time of 28:22.00. Female Runner of the Week: Joy Aifuwa, USP (Jr., Edison, NJ/Edison) - Aifuwa crossed the finish line in second place at the Delaware Valley Invitational. She completed the course in 26:12.79. Male Rookie of the Week: Joe Debus, Wilmington (Fr., Middletown, DE/Charter) - Debus set a Wilmington record for an 8k course by finishing in 26:55 at the Salisbury Invitational. He placed 13th and was the first finisher for the Wildcats. Female Rookie of the Week: MaryKate McCaffery, Wilmington (Fr., Wilmington, DE/Padua Academy) - McCaffery set a new school standard with a 6k time of 24:02 at the Salisbury Invitational, which was good enough for 10th place. September 11 Male Runner of the Week: Lawi Laktabai, Bloomfield (Sr., Kenya) - Ran a team-best time of 27:01 on the 8k course at the Connecticut College Invitational to place 53rd. Female Runner of the Week: Joleen Butterfield, Nyack (So., Ithaca, NY/Candor) - Crossed the finish line in 23rd place at the Vassar Invitational in a team-best time of 21:22 for the 5k course. Male Rookie of the Week: Joe Debus, Wilmington (Fr., Middletown, DE/Charter) - Placed 5th at the McDaniel Invitational in a time of 29:16 to lead the Wildcats to a fourth place finish. Female Rookie of the Week: MaryKate McCaffery, Wilmington (Fr., Wilmington, DE/Padua Academy) - Finished 3rd at the McDaniel Invitational in a 5k time of 21:37 to help the Wildcats finish in fourth place. September 18 Male Runner of the Week: Walter Tum, Bloomfield (Jr., Eldoret, Kenya) - Tum won the Baptist Bible Invitational in a time of 28:08.66 to lead the Deacons to a third-place finish. Female Runner of the Week: Melissa Rennekamp, Philadelphia - Rennekamp ran a time of 21:15 to lead the Rams at the NYU Invitational. She placed 30th in a field of 262 runners. Male Rookie of the Week: Joe Debus, Wilmington (Fr., Middletown, DE/Charter) - Debus earned his third Rookie of the Week nod this season. The freshman from Middletown, DE, placed 18th at the University of Delaware Invitational to lead the Wildcats to a sixth-place finish. He crossed the finish line in 28:15 for the 8k course. Female Rookie of the Week: Faith Anderson, Philadelphia (Fr., Dover, PA/Dover Area) - Anderson completed the course in 21:29 to place 41st at the NYU Invitational on Saturday. The field included 262 runners. September 25 Male Runner of the Week: Walter Tum, Bloomfield (Jr., Eldoret, Kenya) - Tum was the individual champion at the Philadelphia Metro Championships, crossing the line in 27:37.62. He won by nine seconds. Female Runner of the Week: Joy Aifuwa, USP (Jr., Edison, NJ/Edison) - Aifuwa placed fourth at the Philadelphia Metro Championships in a time of 20:49.76 to help the Devils place fifth. Male Co-Rookies of the Week: Matt Willard, USP (Fr., Broomall, PA/Cardinal O'Hara) and Joe Debus, Wilmington (Fr., Middletown, DE/Charter) - Willard finished fourth at the Philadelphia Metro Championships in a time of 27:57.78. Debus ran a time of 29:06 at the Wilmington College Invitational to also place fourth. Female Rookie of the Week: Mary Kate McCaffery, Wilmington (Fr., Wilmington, DE/Padua Academy) - McCaffery led the Wildcats at the Wilmington College Invitational by placing eighth in a time of 21:18. October 2 Male Runner of the Week: Josh Vander Veen, Philadelphia (Sr., Wyomissing, PA/Wyomissing) - Placed third at the Belmont Classic on Saturday with a school-record time of 27:09.11 to lead the Rams to a fifth-place finish. Female Runner of the Week: Joy Aifuwa, USP (Jr., Edison, NJ/Edison) - Crossed the finish line in second place at the Belmont Classic in a time of 20:14.57 to lead the Devils to a third-place finish. Male Rookie of the Week: Joe Debus, Wilmington (Fr., Middletown, DE/Charter) - Finished fourth at the Belmont Classic in a time of 27:14.71 to lead the Wildcats to a fourth-place showing. Female Rookie of the Week: Mary Kate McCaffery, Wilmington (Fr., Wilmington, DE/Padua Academy) - Finished fourth at the Belmont Classic by completing the course in 20:38.08 as the Wildcats placed sixth as a team. October 9 Male Runner of the Week: Walter Tum, Bloomfield (Jr., Eldoret, Kenya) - Tum was the top CACC finisher at the Goldey-Beacom Invitational, placing third in a time of 27:31.30. Female Runner of the Week: Joy Aifuwa, USP (Jr., Edison, NJ/Edison) - Aifuwa placed second at the Goldey-Beacom Invitational and was the top CACC finisher. She completed the course in 20:36.57. Male Rookie of the Week: Joe Debus, Wilmington (Fr., Middletown, DE/Charter) - Debus was the first freshman finisher at the Goldey-Beacom Invitational, crossing in eighth place in 28:03.94. Female Rookie of the Week: Faith Anderson, Philadelphia (Fr., Dover, PA) - Anderson was the top freshman finisher at the Goldey-Beacom Invitational, clocking a 21:41.55 to place 11th. October 16 Male Runner of the Week: Josh Vander Veen, Philadelphia (Sr., Wyomissing, PA) - Placed 19th at the 20-team DeSales Invitational in a time of 27:46.46 on the 8k course. Female Runner of the Week: Joy Aifuwa, USP (Jr., Edison, NJ/Edison) - Finished in third place at the Cabrini Invitational in a time of 20:09.24, her fastest 5k time of the season. Male Rookie of the Week: Matt Willard, USP (Fr., Broomall, PA/Cardinal O'Hara) - Placed 7th at the Cabrini Invitational in a time of 28:12.45. Was the first freshman finisher in the race. Female Rookie of the Week: Faith Anderson, Philadelphia (Fr., Dover, PA/Dover Area) - Placed 43rd at the 24-team DeSales Invitational in a time of 26:25 on the 6k course. October 23 Male Runner of the Week: Josh Vander Veen, Philadelphia (Sr., Wyomissing, PA) - Won the CACC Individual Championship on Saturday in a time of 27:53.69 to help the Rams finish second as a team. Female Runner of the Week: Amanda Scibetta, Felician (So., Middletown, NJ) - Was the individual champion at the CACC Championships, completing the course in a time of 21:08.70. Male Rookie of the Week: Joe Debus, Wilmington (Fr., Middletown, DE/Charter) - Placed second overall at the CACC Championships in a time of 28:11.05. Was the top rookie finisher in the race. Female Rookie of the Week: Danielle Burcham, Wilmington (Fr., Bel Aire, MD/C. Milton Wright) - Was the top rookie finisher at the CACC Championships, placing seventh in 21:33.69. November 6 Male Runner of the Week: Josh Vander Veen, Philadelphia (Sr., Wyomissing, PA) - Was the top CACC finisher at the NCAA East Regional Meet, placing 43rd in a time of 34:56.35 on the 10k course. Female Runner of the Week: Melissa Hale, Holy Family (Jr., Buffalo, NY/John F. Kennedy) - Was the first CACC finisher at Saturday's NCAA East Regional, completing the course in 25:18.00, good for 51st place. Male Rookie of the Week: Joe Debus, Wilmington (Fr., Middletown, DE/Charter) - Was the top CACC rookie at the NCAA Regional meet, finishing in 72nd place in a time of 35:45.20. Female Rookie of the Week: Danielle Burcham, Wilmington (Fr., Bel Aire, MD/C. Milton Wright)- Was the first CACC rookie to finish at the NCAA Regional, crossing in 88th place in a time of 26:20.30. |
