WIECHECKI CHOSEN VOLLEYBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Nicole Wiechecki of Wilmington University has been chosen Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Volleyball Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, Sept. 11. Amanda DeAngelo of the University of the Sciences was named Rookie of the Week.
Wiechecki, a 5-7 junior outside hitter from Wilmington, Del., averaged 4.0 kills, 2.71 digs and
0.71 service aces per-set in two matches last week. She posted a season-high 18 kills in a win over Bentley along with a double-double (10 kills, 10 digs) against Pace. She had a .250 attack percentage for the week.
DeAngelo, a 5-11 outside hitter from Vestal, N.Y., averaged 3.30 kills, 2.40 digs and 0.20 blocks per-set in three matches last week. She had 14 kills and 10 digs against Bentley and 11 kills and six digs versus Goldey-Beacom. She sported a .244 attack percentage for the week.

Whitney Ranger, Dominican (Jr., S, 5-8, Ventura, CA) - Averaged 8.17 assists, 2.06 digs and 1.50 kills per-set in a 2-4 week.
Amy Berry, Georgian Court (Jr., OH/DS, Bayville, NJ) - Averaged 2.6 kills and 2.9 digs per-set, including 11 kills and 11 digs in a 3-1 over Chestnut Hill.
Brittany Olson, Philadelphia (Jr., L/OH, 5-9, Sycamore, IL) - Posted 2.44 kills and 2.17 digs per-set in five matches last week.
Monica Dempsey, Goldey-Beacom (Jr., S, 5-7, Secaucus, NJ) - Tallied 5.55 assists, 1.55 service aces and 0.45 kills per-set in a 3-1 week.
Team Notes
Bloomfield - The Lady Deacons earned new head coach Talita Silva the first victory over her collegiate coaching career, Wednesday evening, as they swept non-conference opponent Mercy College in a 3-0 victory to open the 2011 season. Junior Clodesh Marie Montano (Carolina, Puerto Rico) notched 12 kills and five digs in the victory, while sophomore Dominic Spivey (Newark, NJ) totaled seven kills. Junior Da'Cheray Thomas (Newark, NJ) tallied five kills, while fellow junior Daliana Perez (Jersey City, NJ) totaled three kills and nine digs. Junior Brandi Bodin (Clara City, MN) led the defensive effort with 11 digs.
Caldwell - The Cougars won their only match of the week, defeating Post in three sets in the first CACC match of the season. Junior outside hitter Susan McDonough led Caldwell with 11 kills and nine digs, while freshman outside hitter Athena Nestoras had seven kills and nine digs. The Cougars host three CACC matches this week: Felician on Tuesday, Bloomfield on Thursday and USciences on Sunday.
Concordia - The Clippers lost their conference home-opener against Nyack by a score of 3-1 this past week. Concordia will play in three games this week: at Molloy on Tuesday, at Post on Thursday and hosting Wilmington (Del.) on Saturday evening.
Felician - Sophomore S Gabby Migliore posted her first collegiate double-double on Saturday with career highs of 30 assists and 11 digs in Felician's five-set home loss to Georgian Court.
Georgian Court - Jaslene Lopez (R-Fr.) averaged 35 assists in the Lions three games last week, including a season-high 41 in GCU's 3-1 victory at Chestnut Hill (9/7). Georgian Court will play two CACC matches (9/13 vs. University of the Sciences; 9/15 @ Wilmington) before making its annual trek to the Bentley Classic in Massachusetts. The Lions will take on host-Bentley Friday night before taking on Pace and Stonehill on Saturday.
Goldey-Beacom - The Lightning's 3-0 win at USciences was their first victory over the Devils in nine tries, with the last win coming on Oct. 18, 2006. It was also GBC's first conference-opening win since 2008. GBC takes on its crosstown rival, Wilmington University on Tues. night at the Jones Center. The Lightning seek their first win over their in-state rival since Oct. 10, 2006.
Holy Family - Senior Jillian Keeve made history against St. Mary's University during day one of the AIC Yellow Jackets Invitational this past weekend. Keeve became just the second player in program history to record 1,000 career kills after recording nine kills in the match. Former Holy Family standout Jennifer O'Connor (2005-2008) holds the program's all-time record with 1,398 kills.
Philadelphia - It was a tough week for PhilaU, as the squad went 1-4. The lone win came in a 3-0 shutout of Lincoln. This week, the Rams host Holy Family (9/13) and Chestnut Hill (9/15) before traveling to Bloomfield (9/17).
Post - Taylor Doyle was named to the UMass-Lowell All-Tournament team with 62 total assists coming in three matches. This week the Eagles travel to Saint Rose on Tuesday, host Concordia on Thursday, and travel to Holy Family on Saturday.
USciences - Stacey Wooden (Levittown, Pa.) moved into ninth place on the Devils all-time dig list with six digs vs. Pace to give her 785 for her career. The Devils have three matches on the road this week as they face Georgian Court on 9/13, Holy Family on 9/15 and Caldwell on 9/18.
