OLSON GARNERS CACC PLAYER OF THE WEEK FOR VOLLEYBALL

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Brittany Olson of Philadelphia University has garnered Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Volleyball Player of the Week honors for Monday, Nov. 7. Tatiana Villariny of Georgian Court University was tabbed Rookie of the Week.

Olson, a 5-9 junior outside hitter from Sycamore, Ill., led PhilaU to a 2-0 week to clinch the No. 2 seed and a home quarter-final match for the CACC Tournament. She averaged 2.25 kills and 4.2 digs per-set, including 10 kills and 14 digs at USciences and eight kills and 19 digs vs. Nyack.   

Villariny, a freshman outside hitter from Rio Grande, Puerto Rico, recorded 25 kills, six digs and two blocks in a 3-1 win over Goldey-Beacom to close the 2011 season.

Honorable Mention
Susan McDonough, Caldwell (Jr., OH, Saline, MI) - Posted a career-high 26 kills and nine digs in a 3-1 win over Bloomfield.

Amy Berry, Georgian Court (Jr., OH, 5-7, Bayville, NJ) - Had 15 kills and nine digs in a win over Goldey-Beacom.

Julianne Gilespie, Concordia (Sr., OH, 5-10, Clarkston, MI) - Notched 16 kills and nine digs in a 3-2 win over Felician on Senior Night.

Chelsea Keegan, Holy Family (So., S, 5-10, Bucyrus, OH) - Recorded 50 assists and 17 digs in a win over Kutztown. Added 33 assists vs. Chestnut Hill.

Team Notes
Caldwell - The Cougars wrapped up the regular season with a 3-1 victory over Bloomfield on Tuesday. Junior outside hitter Susan McDonough racked up a career-high 26 kills to go with nine digs and two blocks in the win, which gives Caldwell a 23-4 record on the season, including an 18-1 mark in league play. The result also extended the Cougars’ winning streak to 10 matches, tying the program record for consecutive wins. Caldwell defends its 2010 CACC Tournament crown this week, starting with a quarterfinal match with Chestnut Hill on Tuesday, Nov. 8 in the Newman Center.

Concordia - The Clippers finished their season with a 7-19 (7-12 CACC) record as they finished tied for fourth in the North Division with Post. Based on the tiebreaker procedure, the Clippers fell short in securing a playoff spot. Concordia began the year with a 0-13 record but since October 1st, the Clippers went 7-6 to make a run at the post season. Concordia played one game this past week as they defeated Felician 3-2 on Senior Night at the Meyer Athletic Center last Tuesday night.

Felician - Senior S/Opp Megan Delamater will graduate in sixth place or better on Felician’s all-time lists in all of the “counting” categories – matches (3rd), kills (5th), assists (2nd), aces (1st), blocks (3rd), and digs (6th).

Georgian Court - The Georgian Court University volleyball squad concluded the 2011 campaign in impressive fashion Tuesday evening as their offensive thunder overpowered the Lightning of Goldey-Beacom College, 3-1 (25-17, 22-25, 25-21, 25-16). Led by Tatiana Villariny (FR.) (25 kills) and Amy Berry (Jr.) (15 kills), the Lions registered 63 total kills and a solid .293 hitting percentage. Jaslene Lopez (Fr.) distributed a match-high 47 assists while Francheska Cedres (Fr.) and Anabelle Barinas (Fr.) contributed 21 and 10 digs, respectively.
