MVP MCDONOUGH NAMED VOLLEYBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Susan McDonough of Caldwell College has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Volleyball Player of the Week two days after being named the CACC Tournament MVP. Fellow Cougar Jaclyn Del Cid was the pick for Rookie of the Week.
McDonough, a 5-9 junior outside hitter from Saline, Mich., led
Caldwell to its second
straight CACC Tournament Championship with a 3-1 win over Holy
Family in Saturday's finale. She recorded 10 kills, 20 digs and two
service aces in the championship match, and contributed 22 kills
and 15 digs in a 3-2 semi-final victory over Philadelphia.
McDonough was voted the CACC Player of the Week last week.
Del Cid, a 5-2 freshman libero/defensive specialist from Bogota, Columbia, helped lead the defensive effort in Caldwell's march to the CACC Championship. She averaged 2.91 digs per-set in three tournament victories and posted 16 digs in the championshp match against Holy Family.
Honorable Mention
Nicole Wiechecki, Wilmington (Jr., OH, Wilmington, DE) - Averaged
2.88 kills and 3.25 digs per-set in two CACC Tournament matches.
Was named to the All-Tournament team.
Michelle Fiorvanti, Dominican (Jr., OH, Commack, NY) - Posted 18
kills in a CACC Tournament setback to Wilmington.

Caldwell - The Cougars captured their second straight CACC
Tournament title by defeating Holy Family in the final on Saturday
at Georgian Court. Junior outside hitter Susan McDonough was named
the tournament’s MVP after averaging 4.36 kills and 4.36 digs
per set over the three wins. Senior setter Lauren Roth and
sophomore middle blocker Kasey Bausch also made the all-Tournament
Team. Caldwell moved up one spot in the East Region rankings and
will be the No. 7 seed at the NCAA Division II East Region
Tournament, which begins on Thursday, Nov. 17 at the University of
New Haven. The Cougars will face second-seeded Dowling in a rematch
of last year’s East Region first round match-up, won by the
Lions in three sets.
