McDONOUGH SELECTED VOLLEYBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Susan McDonough of Caldwell College has been selected the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Player of the Week for volleyball. Leanna Lillge of Philadelphia University was named Rookie of the Week.

McDonough, a 5-9 sophomore outside hitter from Saline, Mich., averaged 3.00 kills and 3.18 digs per-set in a 1-2 week, while recording two double-doubles, including 13 kills and 11 digs in a sweep over Bentley. She also had 11 kills and 16 digs in a non-conference loss to Holy Family.

Lillge, a 5-10 freshman outside hitter from Ixonia, Wisc., led the Lady Rams in both kills (4.17) and digs (1.50) per-set in a 1-1 opening week. She tallied 17 kills in a loss to Le Moyne.

Honorable Mention

Monica Dempsey, Goldey-Beacom (So., S, Secaucus, NJ) - Averaged 6.82 assists, 2.45 digs and 1.00 service aces per-set in a 2-1 week.

Amber Doran, Felician (Sr., OH, Little Ferry, NJ) - Averaged 2.22 kills and 3.33 digs per-set last week. Broke schools kills record vs. Bowie State.

Lauren Hoover, Philadelphia (Sr., S, New Baltimore, MI) - Posted averages of 5.50 assists and 1.0 service aces per-set last week. 

CACC Notes

Caldwell - The Cougars began the 2010 campaign with a 1-2 record at the New Haven Invitational, losing to the host Chargers 3-0 on Friday and beating Bentley 3-0 before falling to Holy Family in five sets on Saturday. Sophomore outside hitter Susan McDonough had 13 kills, 11 digs and a .355 hitting percentage in the sweep of Bentley, who has qualified for the NCAA Regional in each of the past six seasons. The loss to Holy Family ended the Cougars’ four-match winning streak over the Tigers, who hadn’t beaten Caldwell since 2007. The Cougars play a pair of non-conference matches on the road against NYIT and Pace Wednesday and Friday, respectively.

Felician - Senior OH Amber Doran became Felician’s all-time kills leader during the Millersville Dutch Country Spiketacular on Saturday. Doran had 20 kills in three matches, giving her 599 for her career, surpassing by one the total of Keisha Milstrey from 2006-07. Felician went 1-2 on the day, giving first-year head coach Amber Butler her first collegiate victory with a three-set win over Bowie State to conclude the tournament.

Georgian Court -  Things do not get easier for the 0-3 Lions this week as they host C.W. Post Tuesday evening before traveling to Waltham, MA, for the Bentley Invitational this Friday with matches vs. Stonehill College, Bentley, Bridgeport and New Haven.

Philadelphia - Philadelphia University opened the season with a 1-1 week, beating Lincoln in straight sets before suffering a tough loss to Le Moyne at Chestnut Hill College. The Lady Rams return to action on Tuesday (9/7) when they host Kutztown in their home opener.
