ALAO GARNERS CACC VOLLEYBALL WEEKLY HONORS

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Titilola Alao of Caldwell College has garnered Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Volleyball Player of the Week honors for the week ending Sunday, Sept. 19. Lauren Mobley of the University of the Sciences was named Rookie of the Week.

Alao, a 5-11 junior middle blocker from Ossining, N.Y., led Caldwell to a 3-0 week by averaging 3.00 kills per-set with a hitting percentage of .338. She racked up 18 kills, four blocks and a .400 hitting percentage in a five-set win over Saint Rose and hit .348 with 11 kills in a sweep at Bloomfield. Furthermore, she added seven kills in a four-set triumph over division rival, Dominican.

Mobley, a 5-10 freshman outside hitter from Oxford, Pa., averaged 2.44 kills and 3.06 digs per-set in four matches last week. She posted two double-doubles against Philadelphia and Wilmington. She posted 15 kills and 13 digs against the Lady Rams.

Honorable Mention

Cady Rich, USci (Sr., MB, 6-0, Shelton, CT) - Averaged 2.56 kills at a .215 attack percentage, and 1.12 blocks per-set in a 1-3 week.  

Nicole Wiechecki, Wilmington (So., OH, 5-6, Wilmington, DE) - Posted averages of 2.73 kills and 3.18 digs per-set in a 2-1 week.

Danielle Carney, Philadelphia (So., OH, 5-10, Thousand Oaks, CA) - In a 3-0 week, averaged 2.08 kills and 3.17 digs per-set.   

Cassie Benson, Chestnut Hill (So., MH, 6-0, Rosamond, CA) - Averaged 2.57 kills at a .311 percentage, and 0.62 blocks per-set in a 3-3 week. 

Team Notes

Bloomfield - The Lady Deacons registered outstanding individual performances last week, though they dropped a pair of matches to CACC rivals Caldwell and Concordia. Suzy Zanette registered 20 kills on the week, including 13 in a 3-2 loss against Concordia. Uerequenia Pereira also had an outstanding two-game stretch, registering 17 total kills and 11 in the loss to Concordia. Da’Cheray Thomas posted five kills each of the club’s two games.

Caldwell - The Cougars opened their CACC schedule with North Division victories at Bloomfield on Tuesday and Dominican on Friday. Junior middle blocker Titilola Alao tallied 11 kills in a sweep of Bloomfield, while senior outside hitter Cory Roesing notched 16 kills to lead the Cougars past Dominican in four sets. Alao paced Caldwell in a five-set win over St. Rose on Saturday with 18 kills and a .400 hitting percentage. Junior setter Lauren Roth surpassed 2,000 assists for her career in the win at Dominican. She now has 2,059 assists in 252 sets. Caldwell hosts Felician, Nyack and Georgian Court this week in the first home matches of the season.

Felician - Senior MB Erica Moore hit .464 last week despite her team’s two losses, with no attack errors in 28 attempts.

Georgian Court -  The Georgian Court University volleyball squad, for the first time since October 7, 2006, was on the losing end of match vs. a CACC opponent, as the Lions fell at Holy Family University Friday night, 3-0 (25-19, 25-13, 25-20). The iconic streak vs. conference foes, which included four CACC title drives for the Lions, reached an astounding 74 straight victories, just three wins away from the NCAA Division II record of 77, established by West Texas A&M from 9/18/99 to 10/10/03 in the Lone Star Conference.

Philadelphia - The Rams put together a 3-0 week and are undefeated in CACC play. The highlight of the week was a solid 3-0 shutout at Concordia College. The Lady Rams are on the road this week traveling to Georgian Court (9/20), East Stroudsburg (9/22) and Felician (9/25).

USciences - Sophomore Stacey Wooden (Levittown, Pa.) set a school record with 48 digs in the Devils 3-2 loss to Philadelphia University, breaking her own record of 43 set last year. Senior Cady Rich (Shelton, Conn.)  recorded a career-high 20 kills against Philadelphia Univ. The Devils have three conference matches on tap this week, hosting Goldey-Beacom College on Tuesday and road contests at Georgian Court (Thursday) and Nyack (Saturday).
