CALDWELL, N.J. - Six student-athletes are set to join the Caldwell College volleyball team this fall, head coach Megan Hrbek announced. The Cougars return 11 players from last year’s squad that won the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference North Division crown for the second straight season.

"This class gives us depth at all positions, which is something we haven’t had in our first four years," Hrbek said. "I am excited for the energy that the new players will provide in creating a competitive practice environment, and I’m looking forward to working with them."

The recruiting class includes two transfers in setter Brittany Denter (Grawn, MI/Kingsley) and defensive specialist Cory Fallon (Midland Park, NJ/Midland Park). Denter spent the last two seasons at Schoolcraft College in Livonia, Mich., where she helped the Ocelots win a Michigan Community College Athletic Association title in 2008. Last season she averaged 7.72 assists per set to rank 29th nationally. At Kingsley High School, Denter received all-State honorable mention twice and set the school record for career assists.

Fallon comes to Caldwell from Ramapo College in Mahwah, N.J., where she played volleyball for two seasons. Last year Fallon played in 33 matches and ranked second on the team with 2.78 digs per set. She was named all-league first team as a senior at Midland Park High School in 2007.

Kasey Bausch is a 5-11 middle blocker from Bellmore, N.Y., who earned all-League honors as a senior at Holy Trinity High School in Hicksville, N.Y. She helped Holy Trinity capture the NSCHAA Class A championship her junior year. Bausch played club volleyball for the Performance Juniors in Garden City, N.Y.

Nivia da Silva of Lyndhurst, N.J. is also a middle blocker who will bolster the Cougars’ front line. At Lyndhurst High School, da Silva received all-Bergen County honorable mention and made the Bergen County Scholastic League first team as a senior.

The third middle blocker in this class is Becca Feczer, a former teammate of current Cougar Lauren Roth (Findlay, OH/Findlay) at Findlay (Ohio) High School. Feczer helped Findlay win its seventh consecutive Greater Buckeye Conference championship last fall while receiving honorable mention all-conference accolades.

Tiffany Grupp is a setter from St. Louis, Mich., who was named to the Class A all-State first team as a senior at St. Louis High School. A three-time Tri-Valley West Conference first team selection, Grupp also earned all-State second team accolades as a junior. She ranks 10th on Michigan’s all-time assists list with 3,407 career assists.

The Cougars begin the 2010 season on Sept. 3 at the University of New Haven Tournament in West Haven, Conn.
