GCU'S FIGUEROA GARNERS VOLLEYBALL WEEKLY HONORS

NEW HAVEN, CT - Lisamary Figueroa of Georgian Court University
has garnered Central
Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Volleyball Player of the
Week honors for the week ending Sunday, Sept. 27. Dominican
College's Michelle Fiorvanti was the choice for Rookie of the Week.
Figueroa, a 5-6 senior setter from Toa Alta, Puerto Rico, led the Lions to a 3-0 week with averages of 8.75 assists, 3.42 digs, 1.08 kills and 0.33 service aces per-set. She collected 55 assists and 26 digs in a 3-2 triumph at Philadelphia University. She added 35 assists and 11 digs in a 3-1 road win at Caldwell. GCU handed both Philadelphia and Caldwell their first conference losses of the season.
Fiorvanti, a freshman outside hitter from Commack, NY, recorded 4.93 kills at a .353 hitting percentage and 3.86 digs per-set in a 2-1 week. She notched 24 kills and 11 digs against Holy Family and 25 kills and 26 digs in a 5-set thriller over NYIT.
Honorable Mention
Ursula Pereira, Bloomfield (Sr., MB, 5-11, Belo Horizonte, Brazil) - Averaged 4.60 kills at a .305 attack % and 2.60 digs per-set in a 2-1 week.
Lauren Roth, Caldwell (So., S, 5-8, Findlay, OH) - Posted averages of 8.80 assists, 1.70 kills and 1.40 digs per-set in a 2-1 week.
Christine Puschak, USP (Jr., MB, 6-0, Leola, PA) - Averaged 2.91 kills (.259 %) and 0.55 blocks and 0.55 aces per-set in a 1-1 week.
Aimee Drabyn, Holy Family (Jr., S, 5-6, Avon, IN) - Registered 9.30 assists and 1.60 digs per-set in a 2-0 week for the Tigers.
CACC Notes
Bloomfield - Senior Ursula Pereira led the Lady Deacons in kill in each of their two wins last week, going for 18 against Chestnut Hill and 13 against Felician. She also tallied 15 kills in a loss to Bridgeport.
Caldwell - The Cougars have yet to lose a set to a CACC North Division opponent after earning a pair of 3-0 victories over Felician and Nyack last week. Sophomore setter Lauren Roth dished out a season-high 11.0 assists per set against Felician. In the win over Nyack, the Cougars hit .204, with junior middle blocker Keesha Francois recording a team-best eight kills. Against Georgian Court, freshman Maddy Amon registered a career-high 34 digs in a four-set loss. Caldwell hosts Post on Tuesday before playing CACC road matches at Concordia and Goldey-Beacom.
Dominican - Holy Family snapped the Lady Chargers' five-match winning streak with a five-set victory on Saturday.
Felician - During Felician's home loss to Caldwell last Tuesday, junior MB/L Erica Moore became the first player in the six-year history of the program with 1,000 career digs. She currently owns 1,030 digs in 71 collegiate matches.
Georgian Court - With its 3-0 week, Georgian Court extends its CACC winning streak to 55 consecutive matches.
Philadelphia - It was a 1-1 week for the Lady Rams, who fell to the defending CACC Champs, Georgian Court in a rematch of last years conference finale. The Lady Rams got back to their winning ways with a 3-0 victory over Felician College. Upcoming matches this week include Goldey-Beacom (9/29), at Holy Family (10/1), and Lincoln University (10/3).
USP - Sarah Hickman (Newark, Del.) recorded her 1,000th career assist in Thursday's 3-0 loss to Georgian Court, becoming just the third volleyball player in school history to reach the 1,000 assist mark. Hickman also set a USP three-set single match record for assists with 35 vs. Goldey Beacom. Junior Cady Rich (Shelton, Conn.) moved into eighth place on the Devils all-time kills list on Thursday vs. Georgian Court; she now has 526 for her career. Rich also became just the 7th volleyball player in school history to record 100 solo blocks, reaching the mark against Goldey Beacom on Tuesday and moved into sixth place on the Devils' all-time list for total blocks with 220. USP's win vs. Nyack was their ninth straight against the Warriors dating back to 2003; USP holds a 14-5 lifetime mark against them. The Devils win vs. Goldey-Beacom was their fifth straight against the Lightning; USP is 8-18 all-time vs. Goldey-Beacom. Georgian Court has now defeated the Devils eight straight times going back to 2006; USP is 7-11 all-time vs. the Lions. The Devils face a pair of conference foes this week when they host Chestnut Hill College on Thursday and Felician College on Saturday.
