GEORGIAN COURT'S MURDOCK CLAIMS CACC WEEKLY VOLLEYBALL ACCOLADES FOR SECOND TIME

NEW HAVEN, CT - Janelle Murdock of Georgian Court University has claimed Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Volleyball Player of the Week accolades for the second consecutive week. Jenna Matesic of Felician College was tabbed Rookie of the Week.

Murdock, a 5-7 senior outside hitter from Manahawkin, NJ, posted averages of 3.52 kills and 2.0 digs per-set to go with a .248 attack percentage in five matches last week. She recorded 24 kills at a .488 hit percentage and 10 digs in a five-set win over UMass-Lowell. She also had 11 kills, eight digs and two blocks against Rollins.

Matesic, a 5-9 freshman outside hitter from Paramus, NJ, averaged 2.36 kills and 2.36 digs per-set in three matches last week. She recorded 13 kills, 15 digs and three blocks in a victory over Mercy. It was Felician's first-ever non-conference triumph.

Honorable Mention

Meghan Frick, Wilmington (Jr., OH, 5-9, Fairfax, VA) - Averaged 2.93 kills and 3.86 digs per-set in a 1-3 week. Had a double-double in three of four matches.

Susan McDonough, Caldwell (Fr., OH, 5-9, Saline, MI) - Registered averages of 2.43 kills, 4.36 digs and 0.43 blcoks per-match in a 1-3 week for the Cougars.

Celena Rendon, Philadelphia (Sr., OH, 5-9, San Antonio, TX) - Posted averages of 2.14 kills and 2.71 digs per-set in a 3-0 week.

Michelle Fiorvanti, Dominican (Fr., OH, 5-9, Commack, NY) - Averaged 2.41 kills and 0.82 digs per-set in a 4-2 week for the Chargers.

CACC Notes

Caldwell - The Cougars went 1-3 at the East Stroudsburg Tournament last weekend. Junior outside hitter Cory Roesing had a team-best nine kills in a 3-0 victory over Holy Family in a non-conference match at the tourney on Saturday. Freshman outside hitter Susan McDonough recorded 18 kills, 28 digs, five total blocks and three service aces in a five-set loss to St. Rose on Friday. Caldwell hosts Bloomfield on Tuesday and Dominican on Thursday to begin CACC play this week.

Felician - Felician's five-set win over Mercy at the Kutztown Challenge on Saturday was the first non-conference victory in program history.

Georgian Court - All six of GCU's losses have been of the 3-0 variety. The Lions kick off their CACC schedule with home matches against Chestnut Hill (9/15) and Holy Family (9/17) this week.

Holy Family - Holy Family volleyball started the week by taking its CACC opener against Chestnut Hill, 3-0, on Wednesday. This past weekend, the Tigers were swept at the East Stroudsburg Tournament. This week, Holy Family visits Goldey-Beacom, Georgian Court and New Haven.

Philadelphia - PhilaU continues to have ground-breaking success, currently riding a 10-game winning streak. Veteran players like Celena Rendon and Nicole Berkstresser have provided the team with the leadership and skills, while freshmen like Danielle Carney and Mary Mancuso add new dimensions to the squad. The team plays four times this week, including a home match vs. USP (9/17) at 7:00 p.m.
