CALDWELL'S McDONOUGH GARNERS VOLLEYBALL WEEKLY ACCOLADES

NEW HAVEN, CT - Susan McDonough of Caldwell College has garnered Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Volleyball Player of the Week accolades for the week ending Sunday, Nov. 1. Dominican College's Michelle Fiorvanti was the pick for Rookie of the Week.

McDonough, a 5-9 freshman outside hitter from Saline, MI, led the Cougars to a 4-0 week with averages of 3.75 kills at a .220 attack percentage, along with 3.25 digs and 0.75 blocks per-set. She had 17 kills in a sweep of Wilmington and 11 kills, 12 digs and four blocks against Southern Connecticut State.

Fiorvanti, a 5-9 freshman outside hitter from Commack, NY, averaged 3.83 kills at a .341 attack percentage, and 1.50 digs per-set in a 1-1 week for the Lady Chargers. She recorded 17 kills in a sweep over Felician.

Honorable Mention

Ursula Pereira, Bloomfield (Sr., MB/RS, 5-11, Belo Horizonte, Brazil) - Averaged 3.85 kills and 3.0 digs per-set in a 2-1 week.

Joann Zayas, Georgian Court (Sr., OH, 5-5, Naranjito, PR) - Posted 2.7 kills (.323%) and 3.3 digs per-set in a 3-0 week.

Cindy Adams, Philadelphia (Sr., DS, 5-6, Fleetwood, PA) - Averaged 4.38 digs and 1.62 kills per-set in a 3-0 week.

Cady Rich, USP (Jr., MB, 6-0, Shelton, CT) - Hit .311 for the week and averaged 3.57 kills and 1.00 blocks per-set.

CACC Notes 

Bloomfield - BC kept its playoff hopes alive with a 2-1 week in conference play. A 3-2 loss to Post was book-ended by a 3-0 win over Nyack and a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over USP.

Caldwell - The Cougars went 4-0 last week to extend their winning streak to a season-best seven matches. Freshman outside hitter Susan McDonough led Caldwell in kills in three-set sweeps of Concordia, Wilmington and Southern Connecticut State, including 17 kills and a .371 hitting percentage against Wilmington. Sophomore setter Lauren Roth averaged 11.2 assists per set in the Cougars' last three matches. The wins allow Caldwell to take over first place in the CACC North with a 15-3 record in league play. Saturday's 3-0 victory over Southern Connecticut is the team's first win over a Northeast 10 opponent in the four-year history of the program.

Chestnut Hill - CHC recorded the program's first win against a NCAA DII or CACC opponent with 3-2 win over Concordia College on 10/31/09.

Concordia - The Clippers earned their first overall and CACC victory with the 3-1 win over Felician College last Tuesday.

Dominican - The Lady Chargers had their ten match winning streak broken by Georgian Court on Saturday. For the first time in seven years, DC is above .500 and has 20 wins.

Felician - Junior OH/Opp Amber Doran became the second player in program history to record 1,000 career digs, reaching the milestone during Thursday's home loss to Dominican.

Georgian Court - With three conference victories last week, the Lions have now won 68 straight CACC matches. GCU hosts Adelphi University, the #4 team in the region, Tuesday night.

Goldey-Beacom - The Lightning, with two matches left this season, have already equaled their win total from 2009.

Philadelphia - The Lady Rams went 3-0 to end October gathering steam for a November postseason run. PhilaU hosts Chestnut Hill (11/2) and Nyack (11/7) before opening CACC Tournament action at home next Tuesday (11/10).



USP - Saturday's match vs. Bloomfield was the final home match for senior Kirsten Lechner (Wayne, N.J.) who recorded her 10th double-double of the season in USP's 3-2 loss to Bloomfield, recording 11 kills and a career-high 33 digs. Lechner also moved into seventh place on USP's all-time kill list with 561 for her career. Junior Cady Rich ( Shelton, Conn.) set a USP single match record with a .625 attack% at Chestnut Hill last Tuesday (11-1-16). Junior Sarah Hickman (Newark, Del.) continues to lead the CACC in assists, averaging just over nine/set. USP's nine conference wins equal last season's total. The Devils travel to Holy Family University on Tuesday and north to Waterbury, Conn. to take on Post University and NYIT on Saturday to close out the regular season.
