BERKSTRESSER AND ALAO SHARE VOLLEYBALL WEEKLY ACCOLADES

NEW HAVEN, CT - Nicole Berkstresser of Philadelphia University and Titilola Alao of Caldwell College have been chosen Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Volleyball Co-Players of the Week for the week ending Sunday, Oct. 4. Susan McDonough of Caldwell garnered Rookie of the Week honors.
Both Berkstresser and Alao led their respective teams to 3-0 record's last week. Berkstresser, a 6-1 senior RS from Bridgewater, NJ, averaged 3.80 kills at a .429 hitting percentage, to go with 0.60 blocks and 0.50 service aces per-set. She posted 14 kills and three blocks against both Goldey-Beacom and Holy Family and 10 kills at a .643 hitting percentage against Lincoln.
Alao, a 5-10 sophomore MB from Ossining, NY, averaged 3.78 kills at a .569 attack percentage and 0.78 blocks per-set in three matches. She registered 16 kills and no errors for a .762 hitting percentage in a sweep of Goldey-Beacom and added 11 kills, six total blocks and a .533 hitting percentage in a 3-0 win at Concordia.
McDonough, a 5-9 freshman OH from Saline, MI, averaged 3.12 kills at a .245 attack percentage and 3.75 digs per-set in heling lead the Cougars to a 3-0 week. She recorded 17 digs and seven kills against Goldey-Beacom and had nine kills versus both Post and Concordia.
Honorable Mention
Cady Rich, USP (Jr., MB, 6-0, Shelton, CT) - Averaged 4.11 kills and 1.78 blocks per-set in two matches. Had school-record 11 blocks against Chestnut Hill.
Janelle Murdock, Georgian Court (Sr., OH, 5-7, Manahawkin, NJ) - Recorded averages of 2.50 kills (.290 hit %) and 3.50 digs per-set in a 3-0 week.
Ursula Pereira, Bloomfield (Sr., MB, 5-11, Belo Horizonte, Brazil) - Posted 2.62 kills and 3.08 digs per-set in three matches.
Brianne Cercone, Nyack (Sr., MB, 5-10, Gary, IN) - Registered 3.67 kills at a .338 hitting percentage and 1.0 blocks per-set for the week.
CACC Notes
Bloomfield - The Lady Deacons lost three tough matches last week. After dropping a 3-1 decision to Nyack, the squad lost a heart-breaker to Post, 3-2. On Saturday, BC fell to Georgian Court, 3-1. Senior Ursula Pereira paced the team, leading the team in kills in two of the matches.
Caldwell - The Cougars earned three CACC victories without
losing a set last week, sweeping Post, Concordia and Goldey-Beacom
to improve to 7-1 in league play. Caldwell was efficient
offensively, hitting .317 against Post, .304 at Concordia and a
school-record .483 at Goldey-Beacom. The 48 kills recorded against
Goldey-Beacom also set a new school record for a three-set match.
Caldwell's only action of the week is on Saturday at Holy
Family.
Felician - Sophomore DS Ashlee DiSalvo had a school-record eight service aces in Felician's 3-0 victory over Concordia last Tuesday. It was the Golden Falcons' first victory over the Clippers in four all-time meetings.
Georgian Court - With their 3-0 week versus conference opponents, the Lions have now won 58 straight conference matches. GCU has won 31 straight at home.
Nyack - Brianne Cercone led the offensive attack for the Warriors in a 2-0 week. She tallied 14 kills in a 3-1 win over Bloomfield and 19 kills in a 3-2 comeback win over Wilmington. Cercone also recorded five solo blocks in the win over Wilmington.
Philadelphia - It was a 3-0 week for the Lady Rams, who defeated
Holy Family, Lincoln University (Pa.), and Goldey-Beacom. The
highlight of the week was a 3-1 comeback win over Holy Family.
Upcoming matches this week include at Chestnut Hill College (10/5)
at Millersville University (10/7) and then against Concordia
College (10/10).
USP - Four single match individual records were set by the Devils in Tuesday night's come-from behind win against Chestnut Hill. Cady Rich (Shelton, Conn.) broke all three blocking records with six solo blocks, five block assists and 11 total blocks. Stacy Wooden (Levittown, Pa.) recorded 41 digs to also set a match record. As a team, the Devils had 18 blocks, also a single match record. Rich was one of three players in the Chestnut Hill match to record double-doubles, with 22 kills and 11 blocks. Kirsten Lechner (Wayne, N.J.) and Sarah Hickman (Newark, Del.) also had double doubles. Lechner had 10 kills and 18 digs while Hickman had 16 digs and 45 assists. Rich's 37 kills this week give her 563 for her career, moving her up two places on the Devils' all-time list into 6th place. Rich also moved into a tie for 4th place on the Devils all-time blocks list, recording 16 on the week to give her 236 total for her career. The Devils face a trio of conference opponents this week as they host Holy Family University on Tuesday night and travel to Wilmington on Thursday and Dominican on Saturday.
