RENDON TABBED VOLLEYBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

NEW HAVEN, CT - Celena Rendon of Philadelphia University has been tabbed the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Volleyball Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, Sept. 7. Megan DeLamater of Felician College was named Rookie of the Week.

Rendon, a 5-9 junior outside hitter from San Antonio, TX, averaged 3.0 kills, 1.12 digs and 0.41 service aces while sporting a .355 attack percentage in five matches. She recorded 18 kills, seven digs and three aces at East Stroudsburg while hitting .438.

DeLamater, a 5-10 freshman setter from Paramus, NJ, averaged 1.42 kills, 1.58 blocks, 4.10 assists and 1.17 digs per-set in three matches last week. She picked up 10 assists, four kills, six digs and nine blocks against Elizabeth City State. The nine blocks were one short of the school record.

Honorable Mention

Meghan Frick, Wilmington (So., OH, 5-9, Fairfax, VA) - Averaged 2.33 kills, 3.61 digs and .22 aces in a 2-2 week.

Laurie Stuart, Nyack (Sr., OH, 5-11, Trujillo, Puru) - Posted averages of 2.0 kills and 3.25 digs in two matches last week.

Jill Keeve, Holy Family (Fr., OH, 5-11, LaGrange, IL) - Averaged 3.1 kills and 1.9 digs for the week.

CACC Notes

Caldwell - The Cougars opened the 2008 season with a three-set loss at Southern Connecticut State on Tuesday, Sept. 2. The tri-match at Molloy scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 6 was postponed. A make-up date has yet to be announced. Caldwell travels to Syracuse, N.Y., for four matches at the Le Moyne College Tournament, beginning Saturday, Sept. 13.

Felician - Freshman setter Megan DeLamater had 17 blocks (8 solo) during three matches at the Lock Haven Classic. At 5-foot-10, she is the tallest setter in the brief history of the Felician program.

Georgian Court - After beginning the season 2-0, the Lions participated in the Bentley College Invitational over the weekend and lost three of four matches. The team, after playing a home match against Queens College on Thursday, again travels to Massachusetts, this time to play in a tournament at UMASS-Lowell.

Goldey-Beacom - The Lightning have won three consecutive matches. The team will play its home opener versus Millersville on Tuesday, September 9.

Holy Family - Holy Family went 1-3 at the Laker Invitational hosted by Mercyhurst College over the weekend. The Tigers started the Invitational off with a three set win over Ohio Valley. Sophomore Mallory Lennon recorded 12 kills, while freshman Jill Keeve had 10 kills and eight digs. Freshman Aly Keihl had 10 digs while playing in only one set. The weekend ended with 3-0 losses to Mercyhurst, West Liberty State and Slippery Rock. Against West Liberty, Keeve had a team-best 13 kills. This week, the Tigers host East Stroudsburg on Tuesday, then go to West Chester for four matches in the Ram Fest Invitational.

Philadelphia - Philadelphia opened the season by knocking off in-state rival Kutztown 3-0 in a dominating 25-17, 25-19, 25-22 display. The Lady Rams then went on to be held winless at the Joshua W. Wesner Memorial Tournament at East Stroudsburg, going 0-4 for the tournament. Next up will be Lincoln (9/9) at 7p.m. in the team's only match this week.

Wilmington - Wilmington finished 2-2 at the Millersville Spiketacular over the weekend. The Wildcats were playing without last week's CACC Player of the Week, Caitlin Hess.
