CARRINGTON HIRED AS DOMINICAN COLLEGE HEAD VOLLEYBALL COACH

May 21, 2008

ORANGEBURG, NY--Dominican College Director of Athletics, Joe Clinton, has announced the hiring of Stefanie Carrington as the new Head Women's Volleyball Coach. Carrington, a native of Newburgh, NY, is a 2007 graduate of Marist College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics.

At Marist, Carrington organized and coached an unofficial women's club volleyball program. She also coached with the Kaepa Whoosh Volleyball Club during her senior year. Prior to Marist, she spent three years as a member of the varsity girl's volleyball team at Newburgh Free Academy.

"We are very excited to have Stefanie join the Dominican College staff," Clinton said. "Her enthusiasm and passion for the game of volleyball will help us turn the volleyball program into a strong contender for the CACC Title and earn a bid to the NCAA Tournament."

Most recently, Carrington coached the Downstate Juniors Volleyball Club and was the Head Coach of the junior varsity team and the varsity assistant at Haldane High School for the 2007 season, where the varsity team captured the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Class D State Championship.

"I am really excited to be a part of the Dominican College community," said Carrington. "I am impressed by the solid group of returning athletes and look forward to working with the incoming freshmen as well. I hope to help build the women's volleyball program to be competitive in the CACC in the near future."
