GCU'S CASADO SELECTED TO ALL-AMERICA TEAM BY DAKTRONICS

HILLSDALE, MI - Georgian Court University volleyball standout
Angie Casado, the three-time Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference
(CACC) Player of the Year, has been selected to the Daktronics
Division II All-America third team following a vote by sports
information directors at NCAA Division II institutions. Casado, who
earned All-America Honorable Mention in 2007, is the only player in
GCU volleyball history to be selected to an All-America team.
Casado, the 2008 CACC Player of the Year, led Georgian Court to its third consecutive CACC Championship this season, while earning such accolades as First-Team All-CACC, NCAA Division II East Regional All-Tournament Team, and CACC All-Tournament Team. Casado, a senior from Brick, NJ, led all CACC players with 75 service aces, ranked second in the conference with a 3.28 kill average and placed fourth with a .278 hitting percentage. Casado also topped the team with 407 kills and 906 total attacks.
The Lions' season came to an end on November 21st with a 3-0 defeat to top-ranked University of New Haven at the NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball East Regional Tournament, ending GCU's winning streak at 23. Georgian Court (32-5), the #4 seed, defeated Merrimack College the day before to earn its, and the CACC's, first-ever NCAA Volleyball Tournament victory.
