GEORGIAN COURT AND HOLY FAMILY SET TO SQUARE OFF FOR CACC VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

PHILADELPHIA, PA – Georgian Court University and Holy Family University will square off Saturday at 1:00 pm for the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Volleyball Tournament Championship after each earned 3-0 victories in Fridays semi-final round. Georgian Court, the No.1 seed from the South Division, upended Post University, the No. 2 seed in the North. Holy Family, the South's No. 3 seed, upended the top seed from the North, Bloomfield College. Both matches were played at USP's Bobby Morgan Arena.
Georgian Court and Holy Family played twice during the regular-season and the Lions won both meetings. The Lions won the first match-up at home on Sept. 18, 3-0, and followed with a 3-1 triumph at Holy Family on Oct. 23.
Georgian Court got past Post in just over an hour behind 13 kills, six service aces and five digs from CACC Player of the Year, Ann Casado. Game scores were 30-16, 30-18 and 30-14. Freshman Stephanie Rivera added nine kills, junior Claudimary Rivera posted seven kills and junior Billeny Rivera led the squad with 10 digs. Senior Heather Walker provided a game-high 30 assists. The Lions held the Eagles to a -.049 attack percentage on the night, while hitting .286 themselves. The Lions are looking for their second straight CACC Tournament Championship and with it an automatic bid to the 2007 NCAA Division II Tournament.
Junior outside hitter Kerry Smith led Post with eight kills. The Eagles end the season with an overall record of 9-24. Georgian Court improves to 29-8.
Holy Family pulled off its second straight upset by defeating Bloomfield by scores of 30-18, 30-21 and 30-25. The Tigers defeated the south's No. 2 seed, Philadelphia University, on Tuesday, 3-2.
Junior outside hitter Jennifer O'Connor led Holy Family with 15 kills and nine digs, while freshman outside hitter Lauren Gosnell added 12 kills and three service aces. Freshman Aimee Drabyn registered 38 assists and freshman libero Maria Scherrer had a game-high 25 digs.
Bloomfield was led by sophomore Ursula Pereira's 10 kills and six digs, while junior Sonia Perez had 22 assists and six digs.
Holy Family is now 18-20 this season and Bloomfield concludes the year 18-16.
