PHILADELPHIA, PA-Holy Family University women's volleyball head coach Sue Kilian announced the signing of five student-athletes to join the squad starting in the 2008-2009 season. With the signing of Rebecca Tett to a National Letter of Intent during the early signing period, Holy Family has a total of six incoming freshman for next season.

"This class represents our continued plan to build a strong program," said Kilian.

Jordan Beland is a 5-7 libero from New Freedom, Pa. In her senior year at Susquehannock High School, Jordan was named to both the All-County and All-Region teams, in addition to being named to the PVCA AAA class All-State team. The team won the District III title, and was a state semi-finalist in class AAA.

"Jordan is a very good athlete who has the skills and quickness to be a great defender at any level," stated Kilian. "She already knows our defense and comes from a highly successful program and those are pluses for us."

In the off-season, she competes with the R&B Select volleyball club.

Katie Hornback is a 5-11 outside hitter from Indianapolis, Ind. In her junior and senior years, she helped lead Heritage Christian High School to a 59-11 record by compiling 278 kills, 23 solo blocks, 119 block assists, and 47 aces.

"Katie as an extremely strong player who jumps exceptionally well, and hits the ball hard," said Kilian. "Her versatility is a big asset to us, and we expect she will have an immediate impact on the team and in the league."

She was selected to the Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association for the 2007 Indiana South All-Star team, and the 2007 USA Volleyball Girls Youth National Development A1 Camp. This spring, Hornback competed with the Team Indiana Volleyball Club. The team went 18-1 and finished 51st in the open division at the prestigious Las Vegas Invitational.

Jill Keeve comes to Holy Family from LaGrange, Ill. At Lyons Township High School, she was a dual-sport athlete lettering in both volleyball and basketball for three years.

"We are very happy that Jill chose Holy Family," remarked Kilian. "She fits in well with the team, and we expect that her size, strength, and abilities to play anywhere on the court will be a great asset to our program."

In her senior year Keeve was team captain, and named to the All-Conference, All-Area and All-Academic teams for the volleyball and basketball teams. With the volleyball team, she led the team in kills and was second in digs as an outside hitter. The team went to the round of eight. As a sophomore and junior, Keeve was the starting middle hitter and reached the round of 16.

In the off-season, Jill has played for the 1st Alliance Volleyball Club since 2000.

Aly Keihl attends Wisconsin Lutheran High School and comes to Holy Family from Pewaukee, Wisconsin. The 5-10 outside hitter has been a starter for four years in high school.

As a senior, Keihl helped lead her team to a WIAA regional championship, and she was named to the WVCA All-Academic team. As a sophomore, her team finished undefeated, and in her junior year, won the conference championship.

"Aly is a strong, physical player who attacks well on the court, and has a great personality off. We know she will have a great career at Holy Family," said Kilian.

In the off-season, Keihl has played for several clubs. In her junior year, her Southwest Milwaukee team qualified for the USAV national championships. Currently she plays for Rising Force Volleyball.

Kelsey Ross will travel across the country from Flagstaff, Ariz. to attend Holy Family.

She is a 5-10 outside hitter, who has also competed in basketball, gymnastics, and track at Sinagula High School. As a sophomore, she finished third in the state in the high jump. As a senior, Ross was named to the second team all-region team for 4A schools.

She competes for the 18-1 High Altitude Volleyball Club.

Kilian said "Kelsey is a strong player who gives us depth and versatility. She will challenge our opponents to stop her."

"This is a fantastic group of student-athletes and we are lucky to have them attending our University. They are all great in the classroom, and every one received a Presidential academic scholarship from Holy Family University," said Sue Kilian. "We know they will achieve as much in the classroom as they will on the volleyball court.

Holy Family begins its 2008 campaign on Friday, August 29 at the Clarion Invitational at Clarion University.
