NEW HAVEN, CT - Post University junior Kerry Smith has been named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Volleyball Player of the Week for the period ending Sunday, Sept. 23. USP freshman Christine Puschak has garnered Rookie of the Week accolades.

Smith, a junior outside hitter from Smithtown, NY, led Post to a 3-0 week by averaging 4.55 kills and 4.27 digs per-game. She registered two double-doubles, including 24 kills, 15 digs and three service aces versus Dominican. She added 11 kills and 23 digs at Goldey-Beacom.

Puschak, a 6-0 freshman middle hitter from Leola, PA, helped lead USP to a 3-0 week with averages of 4.11 kills, 1.44 service aces and 0.89 blocks per-game, along with an amazing .500 attack percentage. She registered 14 kills, seven service aces and two blocks against Felician.

Michelle Boyd, Wilmington (Fr., OH/MH, Elkton, MD) - Posted 2.1 kills and 3.0 digs per-game with a .269 attack percentage in a 1-2 week.

CACC Volleyball Notes

Georgian Court - Georgian Court remains undefeated in the CACC with a record of 5-0. Georgian Court is first in CACC South standings with a record of 5-0 in conference play and 9-4 overall. The Lions host the University of the Sciences Devils Tuesday evening. GCU is 4-0 against Sciences over the past two seasons.

Felician - In Thursday's four-game loss at Dominican, sophomore setter Nicole Degenhardt eclipsed her own school single-match record for assists, with 41. She had 37 last Oct. 4 at Caldwell. In only 10 matches, freshman libero Erica Moore has set the Felician single-season dig record with 162. Teammate Nicole Niedzwicki had 157 in 2006. FC's Sept. 25 match at Caldwell is its fourth consecutive CACC road contest to open the league season.

Philadelphia - The Lady Rams host two CACC foes this week at the Athletic & Recreation Center. Thursday at 7:00 p.m. vs. Goldey-Beacom and Saturday at noon vs. Caldwell. Saturday's game takes place as part of Homecoming, Reunion and Family Day at Philadelphia University. On Friday, the Athletic & Recreation Center will be rechristened as the Gallagher Athletic, Recreation and Convocation Center. A dedication ceremony takes place on Friday morning; and the building that opened last year will be renamed in honor of the recently-retired President of Philadelphia University, Dr. James P. Gallagher, Ph.D. It will forever be a sign of appreciation for Dr. Gallagher's many contributions during his 23-year stewardship of the University. Saturday's volleyball game will be the first varsity athletic event to be played in the soon-to-be-renamed arena.

Post - Post has won three matches in a row entering this week's action. Junior Kerry Smith averaged 4.55 kills per game last week and 4.27 digs per game. Freshman Natasha Loving also had a solid week last week, recording 4.0 kills per game and 2.45 digs. Post hits the road for three matches this week, beginning with Nyack on Tuesday. The Eagles will then head to Felician on Thursday evening and wrap up the week at Georgian Court on Saturday.

USP - Claire Tauschek recorded her 150th career service ace vs. Felician to move into sole possession of second place on the Devils all-time list. Claire now has 152 career aces. Lindsey Wenderoth recorded her 900th career kill in the first game against Chowan. With 906 for her career, Wenderoth ranks third on the Devils all-time list. Wenderoth also moved into a tie for ninth place on the Devils all-time ace list with four aces against Chowan, giving her 77 for her career. Andrea Cardine moved into 10th place on the Devils all-time dig list, recording nine against Chowan to bring her career total to 410. Tauschek ranks 16th nationally in digs/game in last week's NCAA statistics release. The Devils as a team rank 51st in digs/game and 91st nationally in aces/game.
