GEORGIAN COURT'S CASADO COLLECTS CACC VOLLEYBALL WEEKLY HONORS

NEW HAVEN, CT - Georgian Court University outside hitter Ann Casado has collected Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Volleyball Player of the Week honors for the week ending Sunday, Sept. 16. Philadelphia University freshman Lauren Hoover has been selected CACC Rookie of the Week.

Casado, the 2006 CACC Player of the Year, led Georgian Court to a 2-0 week with averages of 3.7 kills, 1.8 digs and a .355 attack percentage. Casado, a 5-6 junior who hails from Brick, NJ, recorded 13 kills and nine digs in a 3-0 conference victory over Dominican.

Hoover, a 5-7 setter from New Baltimore, MI, averaged 10.11 assists and 2.11 digs per-game in a 2-1 week for the Lady Rams. She provided 38 assists and eight digs in a 3-0 CACC win over USP.

Honorable Mention

Emily Kruass, Philadelphia (Sr., OH, Stormville, NY) - Averaged 3.62 kills and 3.88 digs in a 2-1 week for the Lady Rams.

Kerry Smith, Post (Jr., OH, Smithtown, NY) - Averaged 4.67 kills and 3.83 digs per-game for the week in three outings.

Ursula Pereira, Bloomfield (So., MB, Belo Horizante, Brazil) - Averaged 3.33 kills and 4.33 digs per-game in five matches.

CACC Volleyball Notes

Georgian Court - The Lions host Holy Family University Tuesday afternoon before hitting the road Thursday and Saturday to face Wilmington College and Nyack College, respectively. Georgian Court was 5-0 against these teams last season.

Felician - Freshman libero Erica Moore has 101 digs in six matches this year. Last year's team leader, Nicole Niedzwicki, had 157 in 17 matches.

Post - Junior Kerry Smith had a record-setting week for the Eagles, as she recorded her 700th career kill against Southern Connecticut State, and her 1,000th career dig against East Stroudsburg. Against ESU, she also registered her first double-double of the season with 16 kills and 18 digs. According to the first NCAA Division II statistical rankings, released last Wednesday, the Eagles are ranked 38th in service aces per game, the Eagles also lead the CACC in that category. Senior Vicky Ducharme is 35th in aces per game. Post begins CACC play this week with a pair of home matches against CACC North foes. Dominican comes to town on Tuesday and Caldwell pays a visit on Thursday.
