PEREIRA EARNS WEEKLY ACCOLADES FOR CACC VOLLEYBALL

NEW HAVEN, CT - Ursula Pereira of Bloomfield College has earned Volleyball Player of the Week accolades in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) for the week ending Sunday, Oct. 28. Rookie of the Week honors went to Aimee Drabyn of Holy Family University.

Pereira, a 5-11 sophomore middle blocker from Belo Horizonte, Brazil, led Bloomfield to a 3-0 week with averages of 6.09 kills, 4.36 digs and 0.55 blocks per-game, while hitting .301. She recorded 28 kills, 24 digs and three blocks in a 3-1 win over Wilmington and added 18 kills and eight digs at Nyack. Pereira has earned Player of the Week honors three times this season.

Drabyn, a 5-7 freshman setter from Avon, IN, averaged 12.1 assists and 2.2 digs per-game in a 2-1 week for the Tigers. She contributed 56 assists and nine digs at Felician, 37 assists and 12 digs at Wilmington and added 40 assists against Georgian Court.

Honorable Mention

Lindsey Wenderoth, USP (Sr., OH, Reisterstown, MD) - Averaged 3.09 kills and 3.00 digs per-game in a 3-0 week for the Devils.

Celena Rendon, Philadelphia (So., OH, San Antonio, TX) - Posted averages of 3.00 kills and 3.06 digs per-game in a 2-2 week for the Lady Rams.

Nicole Degenhardt, Felician (So., S, Secaucus, NJ) - Averaged 9.30 assists, 2.10 digs, 1.00 kills and 0.40 blocks per-game in three matches.

CACC Notes

Felician - Felician's home victory over Dominican on Thursday was its first in team history over the Chargers in eight all-time meetings. It also gave Alan Clements the program lead in coaching victories. Senior MH Dee Dee Smith is hitting .293 over her last 10 matches.

Holy Family - Holy Family is now 15-19 overall and 13-3 in the CACC after a 2-1 week. The Tigers fell to Georgian Court, 3-1, on Tuesday ending their five match winning streak. Holy Family rebounded by defeating Wilmington (3-0) on Thursday and Felician (3-1) on Saturday. Against Wilmington, setter Aimee Drabyn recorded 37 assists and 12 digs for her 15th double-double this season. Outside hitter Jen O'Connor had 12 kills and 19 digs to earn her 17th double-double. Holy Family closes out their 2007 regular season by hosting Wilmington on Tuesday and the University of the Sciences on Thursday.

Philadelphia - Senior Emily Krauss notched her 1,500th career kill in the Lady Rams' loss to East Stroudsburg University on October 23rd, becoming the first player in school history to reach the plateau.

USP - USP's win over Nyack was their ninth CACC win of the season, the second most conference wins ever by a USP team. Overall; the Devils already have six more wins than they did in 2006. Senior Lindsey Wenderoth recorded her 1,400th dig of her career against Dominican and now has 1,411 for her career. Junior Claire Tauschek recorded her 1,600th career dig against Goldey Beacom and now has 1,626 for her career, second on the Devils all-time list. Tauschek also became the first women's volleyball player to record 500 or more digs in three straight seasons. Against Chestnut Hill, Wenderoth moved into sixth place on the Devils all-time ace list, recording three aces, and now has 95 for her career. With her first dig against Dominican, Andrea Cardine moved into 9th place on the Devils all-time dig list and now has 525 for her career. Freshman Cady Rich now holds the Devils single season record for block assists with 61 on the year. In last week's NCAA statistics report, Tauschek ranks 20th nationally in digs/game (5.93); Christine Puschak ranked 34th nationally in aces per game (0.65) and Rich ranked 64th nationally in blocks/game (1.15). The Devils as a team rank 54th in the nation in digs/game (18.74), 42nd nationally in aces/game (2.38) and 99th nationally in blocks per game (2.06).
