NEW HAVEN - Emily Krauss of Philadelphia University has been tabbed the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Volleyball Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, Sept. 3. Andrea Cardine of the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia has been named CACC Rookie of the Week.
Krauss, a junior from Stormville, NY, earned All-Tournament honors at the USP "Dance in the Devil's Den " Tournament over the weekend. She averaged 3.69 kills, 2.54 digs and 0.23 aces per-game in a 3-1 week for the Rams. Her best effort was an 18-kill, eight-dig, two-ace performance against Southern N.H.
Cardine, a freshman from Temple, PA, averaged 2.55 kills, 2.55 digs and 0.27 blocks per-game for the week. She notched two double-doubles with 11 kills and 11 digs against Salem International and 11 kills and 10 digs against Southern N.H.
Honorable Mention
Ursula Pereira, Bloomfield (So., MB, 5-11, Brazil/Newark Eastside) - Averaged 5.0 kills and 4.0 digs per-game in one match last week.
Lindsey Wenderoth, USP (Jr., OH, 5-5, Owings Mills, PA/Owings Mills) - Averaged 3.45 kills and 4.45 digs per-game in being named MVP of the USP Tournament.
CACC Notes
USP - Lindsey Wenderoth and Ladonna Landmesser were named to the all-tournament team at USP's "Dance in the Devils Den", with Wenderoth garnering MVP honors. With three service aces over the weekend, Claire Tauschek moved into 6th place on the Devils all-time list with 87. Her 55 digs this week moved her into 7th place on the Devils all-time list with 612 for her career, passing teammate Michelle Hogga (582).
Post - Post opened the season by falling to Bridgeport in the season opener at the Drubner Center. Post was led by sophomore Kerri Smith (Lynbrook, N.Y./Lynbrook) who recorded 12 kills and eight digs. Freshman Haleema Linares chipped in with nine kills and junior Desere Obregon dished out 21 assists. The Eagles fell three times at the CW Post Invitational on Friday and Saturday. Smith had 10 kills against West Chester and Obregon had 23 assists. Against NYIT junior Tricia D'Angelo had nine digs. In the final match against the host Pioneers Smith had eight kills and 11 digs, while Obregon recorded nine digs.
Philadelphia - After opening the year with a loss at West Chester University, the Lady Rams took the title at the USP "Dance in the Devil's Den" Tournament, winning nine of ten games in taking all three matches.
