GEORGIAN COURT'S RIVERA NAMED CACC VOLLEYBALL PLAYER-OF-THE-WEEK

NEW HAVEN, CT - Georgian Court University volleyball standout Billeny Rivera has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC)Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, Sept. 24. Celena Rendon of Philadelphia University was the selection for Rookie of the Week.
Rivera, a sophomore outside hitter from Toa Baja, Puerto Rico, averaged 3.44 kills and 2.50 digs with a .338 attack percentage in a 3-0 week for the Lions. She had 15 kills, five digs and four block solos against Goldey-Beacom and nine kills and 14 digs against Nyack.
Rendon, a freshman outside hitter from San Antonio, TX, averaged 4.67 kills and 2.33 digs per-game with a .442 attack percentage in a 2-0 week. She notched a career-high 19 kills against Wilmington. Rendon has been named CACC Rookie of the Week twice this season.
Honorable Mention
Ursula Pereria, Bloomfield (So., MB, 5-11, Brazil/Newark Eastside) - Averaged 4.83 kills and 4.17 digs in a 2-0 week.
Jen O'Connor, Holy Family (So., Wilmington, DE/St. Elizabeth's) - Posted averages of 3.64 kills and 3.23 digs in a 2-2 week.
CACC Team Notes
USP - After starting the season at 1-5, the Devils have now won five straight matches. Claire Tauschek became just the fifth USP volleyball player in school history to record 100 career service aces. She now has 112 for her career and trails Emily Roth by 20 for fourth place on the Devils' all-time list. Tauschek also moved into fifth place on the Devils' all-time digs list with 784. Teammate Lindsey Wenderoth is fourth on the list with 878 career digs.
Georgian Court - GCU went 3-0 this past week to put them on a six-game winning streak. Georgian Court is now 5-0 in the CACC. GCU faces Wilmington College (2-15, 2-3 CACC), which could potentially put them at 6-0 in CACC action.
Felician - Felician's 3-2 loss to Assumption on Sunday was only the second five-game match in program history (62 matches). In that match, the Golden Falcons set team records for single-match kills (53), assists (46) and digs (90). Junior co-captain Nicole Niedzwicki became the first player in school history to record 30 digs in a match, and freshman Nicole Degenhardt set the individual single-match assist record (33) for the second time in seven days. Junior LaKeisha Milstrey (20 kills, 14 digs, nine blocks) fell a block short of the program's first-ever triple-double.
