O'CONNOR EARNS VOLLEYBALL WEEKLY HONORS

October 9, 2006

NEW HAVEN, CT - Jen O'Connor of Holy Family University has earned Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Volleyball Player of the Week accolades for the week ending Sunday, Oct. 8. Bloomfield College middle blocker Ursula Pereira has been selected as the Rookie of the Week.

O'Connor, a sophomore from Wilmington, DE, posted averages of 5.2 kills and 6.3 digs per-game in four matches last week. She registered a season-high 25 kills against Wilmington on Monday and added 18 kills and 16 digs in a victory over Nyack on Saturday.

Pereira, a sophomore from Brazil, averaged 5.67 kills and 3.89 digs per-game in a 3-0 week for the Lady Deacons. She also contributed 1.22 service aces per-game and sported a .343 attack percentage. She recorded 20 kills and 15 digs against USP and added 15 kills and 12 digs versus Dominican.

Pereira has earned Rookie of the Week honors twice so far this season and was the Player of the Week once.

Honorable Mention

Emily Krauss, Philadelphia (Jr., OH, 5-9, Stormville, NY/Carmel) - Averaged 3.18 kills and 3.55 digs per-game in a 3-0 week.

LaKeisha Milstrey, Felician (Jr., MB, 5-11, Bronx, NY/Lehman) - Averaged 4.20 kills and 3.20 digs per-game and added 0.70 blocks per-game.

CACC Team Notes

Felician - Felician's 3-1 victory at Caldwell on Thursday was the first road win and the first four-game win in program history, and set a school record for wins in a season. Junior LaKeisha Milstrey set the school single-match kill record for the third time this season with 27, and freshman Nicole Degenhardt broke her own assist record with 37. The team's 95 digs was also a Golden Falcon program high.

USP - With four kills vs. Wilmington, Michelle Hogga moved into fourth place on the Devils' all-time kill list. She now has 515 career kills.

Philadelphia - Junior outside hitter Emily Krauss became just the second player in school history to record 1,000 career kills in the Lady Rams' win over Georgian Court on Oct. 4.
