NEW HAVEN, CT - Emily Krauss of Philadelphia University has earned Volleyball Player of the Week accolades from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) for the week ending Sunday, Oct. 22. Ursula Pereira of Bloomfield College has been named Rookie of the Week for the fourth consecutive week.
Kruass, a junior outside hitter who hails from Stormville, NY, averaged 3.44 kills and 3.78 digs per-game in a 3-0 week for the Lady Rams. She concluded the week with 10 kills and 20 digs in a sweep of Holy Family and also notched a double-double against Philadelphia Bible.
Pereira, a sophomore MB from Brazil, posted averages of 5.17 kills and 3.67 digs per-game in a 3-0 week for the Lady Deacons. She also hit at a solid .296 percentage.
Honorable Mention
Jen O'Connor, Holy Family (So., RS, Wilmington, DE/St. Elizabeth's) - Averaged 5.1 kills and 5.2 digs per-game in a 1-2 week. Tallied 23 kills against Bowie State.
Ashley Carberry, Goldey-Beacom (Jr., MH, 5-11, Wilmington, DE/Christiana) - Averaged 5.0 kills at a .482 attack percentage in a 2-0 week for the Lightning.
CACC Notes
Philadelphia - Junior outside hitter Emily Krauss needs just 18 kills to set a new school-record for career kills. Krauss' current total of 1,081 ranks second all-time in school history to Ashley Colantonio, who finished her four-year career with 1,098 kills.
USP - Lindsey Wenderoth became just the second player in school history to record 1,000 career digs with a 14-dig effort against Goldey Beacom. The junior outside hitter now has 1,014 for her career. Claire Tauschek moved into third place on the Devils all-time dig list behind Wenderoth with a 19-dig effort vs. Post. Tauschek, a sophomore libero, now has 996 for her career. Michelle Hogga became the first women's volleyball player in school history to play in at least 400 games (114 matches). Hogga also became just the third USP player to record 200 solo blocks for their career, with three against Post. She now has 202.
Tauschek recorded 81 digs in ten games this week and moved into fourth place on USP's all-time digs list with 960. Tauschek tied a school record for a four-game match with 37 digs vs. Holy Family. Lindsey Wenderoth moved into a tie for second place on the Devils all-time digs list with her 49 digs this week. She now has 993 for her career. Raeann Petruccelli recorded a career high 19 digs vs. Dominican and moved into sixth place on the Devils all-time dig list with 799 for her career.
Georgian Court - GCU went 2-0 last week to get back on a 6-game win streak. GCU is now 14-1 against CACC competition and faces USP Monday night in its final regular-season game of the season.
