CASADO NAMED CACC VOLLEYBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

NEW HAVEN, CT - Angie Casado of Georgian Court University has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Volleyball Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, Oct. 1. Ursula Pereira of Bloomfield College is the selection for Rookie of the Week.

Casado, a sophomore outside hitter from Brick, NJ, posted averages of 5.21 kills and 2.86 digs per-game with a .333 attack percentage in a 4-0 week for the Lions. She recorded 25 kills and 13 digs in a victory over Bloomfield on Saturday and added 23 kills and 15 digs later that day against Molloy.

Pereira, a sophomore who hails from Brazil, tallied 4.9 kills and 2.60 digs per-game to go with a .330 attack percentage in a 2-1 week for the Lady Deacons. She had 16 kills and 10 digs against Nyack.

Honorable Mention

Emily Krauss, Philadelphia (Jr., OH, 5-9, Stormville, NY/Carmel) - Averaged 4.71 kills, 4.29 digs at a .245 percentage in a 2-0 week.

Jen O'Connor, Holy Family (So., Wilmington, DE/St. Elizabeth's) - Averaged 5.0 kills and 7.14 digs in a 1-1 week. Had 20 kills and 31 digs against Philadelphia.

CACC Team Notes

Felician - Junior DS Nicole Niedzwicki is averaging 4.91 digs per game over her last three matches to take over the team lead in dig average at 3.03. Despite its 1-10 record, Felician entered last week second in the 12-team CACC in team blocking. The Golden Falcons average 2.00 blocks per game, with three individuals at 0.75 or better ? LaKeisha Milstrey (0.97), Ashley Patterson (0.83) and Laura Peskosky (0.76).

Georgian Court - GCU went 4-0 last week to extend its win streak to 10 matches. The Lions, now 7-0 in the CACC, face a tough week with matches against USP Monday night and Philadelphia on Wednesday.

Philadelphia - The Lady Rams have won five straight matches, including four in conference play, since a 3-1 loss at Georgian Court University on September 14th. The Lady Rams earned their first-ever regional ranking in the latest NCAA Northeast Region Poll, as Head Coach Mark Magarity's team was ranked eighth in the latest release.

USP - Michelle Hogga recorded her 500th career kills versus Felician and led the team with 14 against the Golden Falcons.
