PEREZ SELECTED AS VOLLEYBALL PALYER OF THE WEEK

NEW HAVEN, CT - Sonia Perez of Bloomfield College has been picked as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Volleyball Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, Oct. 15. Ursula Pereira of Bloomfield and Celena Rendon of Philadelphia University share Rookie of the Week accolades.

Perez, a sophomore setter who hails from Costa Rica, led the Deacons to a 3-0 week by averaging 14.22 assists and 2.44 digs per-game. She also had a .375 attack percentage. She tied a school-record for assists in a 3-game match with 45 against Caldwell and then set a new mark with 50 assists against Holy Family.

Pereira, a sophomore middle blocker from Brazil, averaged 5.38 kills and 3.50 digs per-game in a 3-0 week for the Deacons. Rendon, a freshman outside hitter from San Antonio, TX, averaged 3.67 kills and 3.67 digs in a 3-0 week for the Rams.

Honorable Mention

LaKeisha Milstrey, Felician (Jr., MB, 5-11, Bronx, NY/Lehman) - Posted averages of 5.50 kills, 2.50 digs and 0.80 blocks per-game.

Jen O'Connor, Holy Family (So., RS, Wilmington, DE/St. Elizabeth's) - Averaged 3.4 kills and 6.7 digs per-game and had 43 digs against USP.

CACC Team Notes

Felician - On Saturday, Felician won a game from Wilmington for the first time in program history (five all-time meetings).

Georgian Court - GCU went 3-0 this past week to put them back on a 4-game winning streak. Georgian Court is now 12-1 against CACC competition. GCU faces Wilmington College Wednesday night and Dominican College Saturday afternoon. The Lions are now 15-10 overall including 15-1 in their last 16 matches.

USP - Claire Tauschek recorded 81 digs in ten games this week and moved into fourth place on USP's all-time digs list with 960 for her career. Tauschek tied a school record for a four-game match with 37 digs vs. Holy Family. Lindsey Wenderoth moved into a tie for second place on the Devils all-time digs list with her 49 digs this week. She now has 993 for her career. Raeann Petruccelli recorded a career high 19 digs vs. Dominican and moved into sixth place on the Devils all-time dig list with 799 for her career.

Bloomfield - Bloomfield has not lost a game in the month of October and are on a six-game winning streak since their loss to Georgian Court back on September 30th. Over the course of those six games, Sonia Perez has averaged 14.06 assists per game, and Bloomfield has hit .250 as a team.
