PHILADELPHIA, PA - Host Philadelphia University, the #4 seed in the 2005 ECAC Division II Women's Volleyball Championship, defeated second-seeded LIU-C.W. Post, 3-1, to claim the title on Sunday afternoon. Sophomore outside hitter Emily Krauss, who finished with a game-high 20 kills in the victory for the Lady Rams while also collecting 16 digs, was named tournament's Most Valuable Player.

The Lady Rams took the first game in the championship match against the Lady Pioneers, 30-27, but fell in the second game, 23-30. However, a thrilling 32-30 win in the third game set the table for the title-clinching victory in the fourth game, where the Lady Rams prevailed, 30-24. Freshman middle hitter Lindsey Butler added 13 kills and five blocks in the finals, as Philadelphia University finishes the year with a school-record 30-5 overall record. The Lady Pioneers had three players Sarah Coufal, Lauren Dunne and Emily Wildermuth finish with 16 kills in a losing effort, as they conclude the year with a 21-15 overall mark.

In the first match of the day, the second-seeded Lady Pioneers defeated third-seeded Franklin Pierce College in five games. C.W. Post opened the match with a 37-35 win before falling in the next two games by scores of 28-30 and 26-30. However, the Lady Pioneers battled back to take game four, 30-17, before closing out the match with a 15-10 decision in the fifth and final game of the semifinal. Junior middle hitter Emily Wildermuth led the Lady Pioneers with 20 kills in the match while senior outside hitter Lauren Dunne added 19 kills and 17 digs to help C.W. Post to the title game. The Ravens (14-14) were paced by senior outside hitter Jessica Ward and freshman Nicole Bucholz, who finished with 14 kills and 13 kills, respectively.

In the second semifinal of the afternoon, senior outside hitter Ashley Colantonio and sophomore outside hitter Emily Krauss registered 12 kills apiece to lead the fourth-seeded Lady Rams to a 3-1 victory over top-seeded University of Bridgeport. The Lady Rams took the first two games by identical scores of 30-25 before the Purple Knights battled back for a 30-20 decision in the third game. However, Head Coach Mark Magarity's Lady Rams closed out the upset victory with a 30-23 win in the fourth game to advance to the championship in the program's first-ever postseason appearance. In addition to Krauss and Colantonio, the Lady Rams got 11 kills, five service aces and five digs from freshman middle hitter Lindsey Butler. Bridgeport, which ends the season with an 18-14 overall record, had three players finish with double-figure kills, led by junior outside hitter Jessica Bornack with 14, while senior forward Sinead Quirk added 37 assists and 13 digs.
