New Castle, DE - Junior volleyball standout Kristin Wiedeman and senior Eric Strasser, a member of the cross country team, have been named Wilmington College Athletes of the Month for September.

Kristin Wiedeman (Patrick Henry HS/Doswell, VA), a junior outside hitter on the volleyball team, has started off the year with some pretty impressive numbers. During the month of September, Wiedeman helped the team off to a 7-3 start in the CACC and an overall record of 8-12. Kristin is leading the Wildcats in kills (264), kills per game (3.94), digs (333), and digs per game (4.97). She is second on the team in attack percentage (.245) and service aces (28). Wiedeman is among CACC leaders in kills, kills per game, digs, and digs per game. She has recorded 12 consecutive matches where she has reached double figures in kills and digs. Kristin recorded 38 digs in a loss to 3-1 Philadelphia University, the 7th highest total recorded in NCAA Division II this year. She has reached the 20 kill mark twice this season, and has notched 20+ digs six times.

Eric Strasser (McKean HS/Wilmington, DE), a senior harrier on the cross-country team, has helped lead the Wildcat men to a strong showing during the month of September. Strasser has led the Wildcats in every race so far this season. Along the way, he has set two personal best times. At the Fifth Annual WCXC Invitational, Eric raced to a 4th place finish on the demanding five mile Valley Garden course with a time of 31:04. He led the way for a solid showing by the Wildcats, helping the team to a 4th place finish out of a total of 8 squads. Strasser finished 7th at the Belmont Classic, notching another personal best, completing the 8K course in 28:44. Eric's strong race helped Wilmington finish in 3rd place out of 16 teams competing in Philadelphia. Strasser has the Wildcats thinking of a CACC Championship at the end of October.
