GOLDEY-BEACOM VOLLEYBALL FALLS TO DOWLING AT NCAA TOURNAMENT

SMITHFIELD, RI - Irina Belozerova recorded a game-high 19 kills while Justyna Michon added 15 to lead top-seed Dowling College to a 3-0 win over No. 8 seed Goldey-Beacom in the first round of the 2005 NCAA Division II Volleyball Regional Championship at Bryant's Chace Athletic Center. The Golden Lions (31-8) will advance to the regional semifinals on Friday.

Goldey-Beacom, champions from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference, received 11 kills from Kendra Russell as the Lightning conclude their season with a 26-8 record. Ashley Carberry and Stephanie Rosado each had four kills while Clare Phillips had two service aces. The Lightning were held to just .155 hitting in the match.

Dowling, the champion of the New York Collegiate Athletic Conference, hit .431 for the match and picked up 13 service aces with Michon, Natalia Koryzna, and Brittany Crawford each recording three aces in the match. Koryzna played well defensively for the Golden Lions, recording 14 digs to go with her nine kills on the afternoon.
