CACC VOLLEYBALL WEEKLY RELEASE; SEPT. 6

September 6, 2005

NEW HAVEN, CT - Emily Roth, a senior outside hitter on the USP Volleyball team, has been named CACC Player of the Week for the period of August 29 to September 5. Post University's Kerry Smith has been named CACC Rookie of the Week.

Roth had an outstanding week for the Devils by averaging 4.10 kills and 4.40 digs per-game throughout a 1-2 week. She posted 15 kills against both Philadelphia and American International and added 17 digs against the Rams. Furthermore, she averaged 0.50 blocks for the week.

Smith enjoyed a solid first week of collegiate action by averaging 5.42 digs per-game along with 1.42 kills and 0.25 service aces per-game. She contributed 15 digs and five kills in a 3-0 victory over Molloy on Monday and accumulated 20 digs and seven kills in a loss at C.W. Post on Saturday.

CACC Volleyball Notes

USP - With four service aces against Philadelphia, Emily Roth became just the fourth player in USP history to record 100 career aces. Roth now ranks third on the school?s all-time list with 104...Roth also became the sixth Devil to record 200 career blocks with five during the week. She has exactly 200 in her career...With 15 blocks over the weekend, Michelle Hogga moves into fourth place on the Devil all-time list with 219 for her career.

Post - Post is in the midst of its first three-game losing streak since early in the 2001 season...Post will look to tally a victory versus Southern Connecticut State on Tuesday. Post is 2-4 all-time against the Owls.
