PHILADELPHIA - University of the Sciences in Philadelphia women's volleyball player Emily Roth (Dallastown High School/York, PA) was named today to ESPN The Magazine's Academic All-America Volleyball Team First Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). In addition, Roth was also named to the Daktronics All-Region Volleyball Team as a second team selection for the Northeast Region.

In earning first team Academic All-America honors, Roth becomes just the second student-athlete from University of the Sciences to earn national recognition from CoSIDA and the first to garner first team Academic All-America honors. Roth helped her team finish with a 19-13 record this season by averaging 5.16 kills and 4.12 digs per game in 32 matches for the Devils. She is a two-time ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District selection.

The outside hitter from York, Pennsylvania was also recently named an AVCA Northeast All-Region Team honorable mention selection. At the conclusion of the regular season, Roth was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Player of the Year and earned CACC All-Tournament Team honors for performance in leading the Devils to the CACC Championship game.

During the season, Emily garnered CACC Player of the Week honors four times and the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Player of the Week honors twice. Roth led the Devils in kills (598) setting a single-season school record in the process and finished second in the CACC in attack percentage (.335); kills/game and overall kills. Roth also ranked fifth in total digs (478) and eighth in digs/game (4.12). Emily also ranks ninth nationally in Division II for kills/game.

The former Dallastown High School athlete was also second on the team in digs (478) and digs/game (4.12). Emily is the Devils' career leader in kills (1,554) and digs (1,880) and ranks 15th on the NCAA Division II all time list for digs.

Off the field she has been equally sensational, compiling a 3.93 cumulative grade point average as a pharmacy major, earning Dean's List honors in all six semesters since she enrolled at the university in the fall of 2002. Roth is pursuing a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from USP and has concluded her fourth and final season of play for the Devils.
