PHILADELPHIA, PA (October 25, 2005) USP Womens Volleyball player Emily Roth (Dallastown High School/York, PA) was named the ECAC Womens Volleyball Player of the Week for the week ending October 23, 2005.

This is Roths first ECAC Player of the Week honor and she becomes just the second volleyball player from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) to be honored this season, joining Kristin Wiedeman of Wilmington College who was honored on September 20, 2005.

In the Devils three matches this week, Roth averaged 6.20 kills and 4.40 kills per game, hitting .436 as the Devils completed a perfect 3-0 week against conference opponents.

Roth broke both the USP single season and career kills record against Nyack on Saturday, wasting no time in setting both records, getting the marks in the first game against the Warriors. Emily broke her own single season mark of 417 with her sixth kill of the match late in the first game. This also tied the career mark of 1,364 set by Breht Mieckowski (1998-01). Roth got the career mark on her next kill, her seventh of the game. Emily finished with 17 kills for the match. She also had 10 digs to record her 11th straight double-double and 21st on the season.

The senior from York, PA added 17 kills and 3 digs against Felician College later in the day, hitting a season high .714 (17 kills, 2 errors in 21 attempts). The .714 mark is the second highest single match attack percentage in school history.

Roth opened the week with a 28-kill, 31-dig performance against Bloomfield College.

For the week, Emily had 62 kills and 44 digs in ten games.

The former Dallastown High School athlete currently leads the Devils in hitting (.326), kills (446) and kills/game (4.96). Roth is second on the team in aces (30), digs (366) and digs/game (4.07).

Roth, a pharmacy major pursuing a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia is in her fourth and final season of play for the Devils.
