POST SELECTS SHULER AS HEAD VOLLEYBALL COACH

June 2, 2006

Waterbury, CT ? Lanaya Shuler has been named the new Head Women's Volleyball Coach at Post University. Shuler replaces Dawn Spellman, who resigned after seven seasons. Dan Mara, Associate Vice-President for Athletics and Fitness at Post, made the announcement.

Shuler served as an assistant under Spellman for four seasons and prior to that was head volleyball coach at Nonnewaug High School for two seasons. She also coaches for the Husky Volleyball Club and previously worked with Connecticut Juniors Volleyball. During her tenure as an assistant at Post, the Eagles reached three Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship Matches and participated in two Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Tournaments.

Shuler, a native of Danbury and a standout student-athlete at Danbury High School, played collegiate volleyball and was a two-year starter at Franklin Pierce College in Ringe, New Hampshire.

"Lanya has been a vital part of our program for four seasons and we are very happy to have the opportunity to name her as the head coach. She is an educator and believes in the value of sportsmanship. She will continue to be an excellent representative of Post University and a role model to our student-athletes." Mara said.

Post compiled an 18-17 mark in 2005 and a 14-8 record in CACC play. The Eagles reached the CACC Tournament for the eighth consecutive season.
