GOLDEY-BEACOM QUALIFIES FOR NCAA VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT

November 14, 2005

WILMINGTON, DE - The Goldey-Beacom College volleyball team has qualified for its first-ever trip to the NCAA Division II Volleyball Tournament, which gets under way Thursday at Bryant University in Rhode Island. The Lightning earned an automatic bid by winning the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference title this past Saturday when they defeated the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, 3-0.

Goldey-Beacom, which currently has a 25-6 record, is seeded eighth in the eight-team Northeast Region field and will meet top-seeded Dowling College in the quarterfinals on Thursday. The Golden Lions are 30-8 on the season.

The winner of the Goldey-Beacom vs. Dowling match will advance to the tournament semifinals against either The College of Saint Rose (24-6) or Mercy (20-11).
