Goldey-Beacom Upsets USP in Volleyball, 3-0

WILMINGTON, DE ? Junior Norah Burdette (Ellicott City, MD) had 20 kills and freshman Adrienne Melvin (Newark, DE) added 16 kills and the Goldey-Beacom College volleyball team knocked off second-place USP, 3-0, Tuesday night in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference action at MBNA America Hall.

The Lightning won game one 30-28, game two 30-18 and game three 30-23.

Freshman Kendra Russell (New Castle, DE) chipped in with 11 kills for the Lightning (13-11, 10-4 CACC), who snapped a four-game losing skid. The Devils, meanwhile, fell to 14-8 with the loss and 12-3 in conference play.

Emily Roth led USP with 17 kills and 17 digs while Michelle Hogga had six kills and nine digs.

The Lightning return to action this Thursday when they host Bloomfield College at 7 p.m.
