Goldey-Beacom Downs Dominican 3-0, Falls to Teikyo Post 3-2

WILMINGTON, DE ? The Goldey-Beacom College volleyball team split a pair of matches Saturday afternoon, falling to Teikyo Post University 3-2 before rallying to defeat Dominican College in the nightcap, 3-0, Saturday in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference volleyball action at MBNA America Hall.

In the opener, the Lightning (2-5, 1-2 CACC) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the match, winning game one 30-23 and game two 30-26. The Hawks (8-4, 4-0 CACC) proceeded to capture the final three matches ? 30-18, 30-23, and 15-11 - for the 3-2 win. Tadj Williams led the attack with 25 kills (.358 hitting pct.) while Jennifer Giarratano posted 24 kills and 19 digs. Junior Norah Burdette (Ellicott City, MD) led the Lightning with 21 kills (.425 hitting pct.) while junior Clare Phillips (Wilmington, DE) had 10 kills and a game-high 28 digs.

Following Teikyo Post?s 3-1 win over Dominican in the second of the afternoon?s three matches, Burdette continued her torrid hitting, notching 15 kills (.481 hitting pct.) to help the Lightning to their second win of the season, a 3-0 decision over Dominican. Phillips had 12 kills and 14 digs while freshman Kendra Russell (New Castle, DE) chipped in with 11 kills as Goldey-Beacom won game one 30-15, game two 30-21, and game three 30-26.

The Lightning return to action this Tuesday when they travel to Pennsylvania to take on the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia at 7:30 p.m.
