Waterbury, CT--Teikyo Post University started the 2004 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference season with a pair of wins.

Match One: Teikyo Post University vs. Holy Family University

The Eagles struggled to find a rhythm, but survived a pesky Holy Family squad 3-0. The game scores were 30-26, 30-26, 30-17. Holy Family led both of the first two games but TPU rallied in each overtaking the Tigers.

Post was led by Jennifer Giarratano (Seymour, CT) who had nine kills and 16 digs. Courtney McGinnis (Seymour, CT) added 38 assists and 13 digs. Tadj Williams (Albany, NY) added nine kills in the win. TPU had 42 kills and only 11 attacking errors.

Holy Family's Teresa Devine (Philadelphia, PA) had 11 kills and four solo blocks.

The Eagles improved to 5-2 (1-0 CACC), while Holy Family dropped to 0-3 (0-1 CACC).

Match Two: Holy Family University vs. Felician College

Holy Family rebounded to dominate Felician College in three games, 30-10, 30-9, 30-11.

The Tigers improved to 1-3, 1-1 CACC. Leading the way for Holy Family was Devine who had 10 kills and a .364 attack percentage. HFU had 15 aces.

Match Three: Teikyo Post University vs. Felician College

TPU crushed Felician 3-0 (30-10, 30-11, 30-13), improving to 6-2 in the process and staying unbeaten (2-0) in CACC play. Giarratano added 12 kills and 10 aces for the match. The Eagles had 25 aces for the contest. Felician dropped to 0-3 (0-3).

"It's nice to get off to such a good start in league play and see the team play well," said head coach Dawn Spellman.

The Eagles will be back in action Tuesday as they host Stonehill at 7:00 in the Drubner Center. Admission to the game is free.
