Three Second-Half Goals Propel Mercy Past Goldey-Beacom

DOBBS FERRY, NY ? Alexandra Augusto scored twice and Lennox Brown had two assists as Mercy College blanked Goldey-Beacom College, 4-0, Saturday afternoon in non-conference men?s soccer action in New York.

Diara Phillip and Robert Rennis also scored for the Flyers (1-0-1), who dealt the Lightning (1-4) their fourth-straight defeat.

Mercy opened the scoring just 2:15 into the contest when Phillip scored from a shot at top of the box off a feed from Anders Khan. The game remained that way until Rennis scored at 51:22 to increase the lead to 2-0. Augusto then scored at 58:27 and 69:43 to put the game out of reach for the Lightning.

Junior Bryan Rudden (Landenberg, PA) made 10 saves for Goldey-Beacom while senior Matt DiGiacobbe (Newark, DE), junior Bruno Farias (Recife, Brazil), and sophomore Stephane Kamim (Ivory Coast) each had two shots on goal.

The Lightning return to action this Wednesday when they host Wilmington College at 4 p.m.
